A NEW COVENANT
Monday – January 1, 2018

HAPPY NEW YEAR ONE AND ALL!! Wow, 2018 is here! Hold on for we are in for quite a ride this year. For some 2018 will bring new or reconfirmed direction, blessings, and anointing from the Lord. For others 2018 will be a day of judgment and illumination of unrighteousness. I hope you are not struggling with which group you are in and which group it is most desirable to be in. If you are in the latter group repentance, a true change of mind, results in instant transference to the first group. Now, I will move forward with our Bible Study from the wonderful Book of Hebrews. I hope you are enjoying and profiting from this study. If you are I would encourage you to become a partner with us and I would also encourage you to share these teachings with others. Now to review our primary text.
Hebrews 8:10-13 (KJV)
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
This New Covenant being talked about above is more than able to overcome all of the rebellion and depravity of sin. If you are foggy about this Covenant business due to all of the business of the Holiday Season I would suggest that you go back to where I started the discussion about the promises to Abraham on November 16, 2017. This is a key and essential discussion to be knowledgeable about. The back issues are readily available on the blog at the following link. https://awakeariseandtriumphministries.org/ The Old Covenant was a stopgap measure until the LORD could bring the Savior (Messiah) into the earth. This is not just something that God could do at some point in time according to His choosing. No, He had given mankind dominion (authority) in the earth. In order for the will of God to be accomplished He had to get at least one man on board to speak the will of God into the earth. It took some two thousand years from the Day of Sin until God could find a man who would make a Blood Covenant with Him so that the Messiah could come. I reviewed this in some detail in November and December 2017. From our text, Hebrews 8:13, we are told that the Old or First Covenant is decayed, waxing old, and ready to vanish away, and is indeed now gone. There is no alternate way to God except by Jesus, not for the Jew, not for anyone.
The New or Second Blood Covenant was initiated with Abraham some two thousand years before Messiah came. The Old or First blood Covenant was not codified (organized, ordered, written) until Moses about fifteen hundred years before Messiah and after the Second was already in place. This is a general Truth with God, when He is going to remove what is now in place there is already a much better replacement in the spirit realm that is actuated by faith and brought into the physical realm. The First or Old Covenant although weak was an adequate bridge to the New Covenant as we have discussed previously. The First or Old Covenant was initiated and demonstrated by a merciful and loving God in the Garden of Eden on the Day of Sin.
Genesis 3:21 (KJV)
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
I sure you are well aware that you cannot get the skin off of any animal without the shedding of blood and the death of the animal. This First or Old Covenant was in full force from the Day of Sin until the last Passover on the day that THE PASSOVER LAMB, Jesus, hang on the Cross. Jesus paid it all and proclaimed from the Cross that the New Blood Covenant was now sealed, it was finished.
John 19:30 (KJV)
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
With the coming of the New Covenant the Blessing (Holy Spirit) is back in the earth and convicting of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.
John 16:8-11 (KJV)
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
If you reflect on this and take a moment to look back at Hebrews 8:10 with the use of the words mind (understanding) and heart (decision maker) I think you will see what you already know emerging. As we conclude for today let’s review an expanded section of the above Scripture in the Message Translation.
John 16:7-13 (MSG)
7 So let me say it again, this truth: It’s better for you that I leave. If I don’t leave, the Friend won’t come. But if I go, I’ll send him to you.
8 “When he comes, he’ll expose the error of the godless world’s view of sin, righteousness, and judgment:
9 He’ll show them that their refusal to believe in me is their basic sin;
10 that righteousness comes from above, where I am with the Father, out of their sight and control;
11 that judgment takes place as the ruler of this godless world is brought to trial and convicted.
12 “I still have many things to tell you, but you can’t handle them now.
13 But when the Friend comes, the Spirit of the Truth, he will take you by the hand and guide you into all the truth there is. He won’t draw attention to himself, but will make sense out of what is about to happen and, indeed, out of all that I have done and said.
How good our God is to send us our Friend!
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
