HEALTH, HEALING, AND MIRACLES – PART TWENTY-THREE
Sunday – August 12, 2018, Elul 1, 5778
Again, welcome back to this wonderful study on the maintenance of our health, as well as the healings and miracles in the ministry of Jesus. His ministry is no different than ours, we are called (yes, you) to the very same ministry. We are to do the things He did and the greater things (John 14:12). The only hindrance is our faith. Read to the end of this teaching for a very special announcement, special to me at least. Now let’s get back to the feeding of the five-thousand plus women and children. Today I have taken the text for this event from the Book of Luke.
Luke 9:12-17 (KJV)
12 And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place.
13 But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy meat for all this people.
14 For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company.
15 And they did so, and made them all sit down.
16 Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.
17 And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.
In Matthew we saw how the disciples said the people could go and buy food now the story is a little different in that they (the disciples) could go and buy food. The rest is the same as we have reviewed before. The question before us is; where did the food come from for this very large multitude? Now, if you have not been following this teaching I strongly advise you to go back at least to Part Twenty. Last Sunday we reviewed how Eve, the female Adam, the Woman, came about and how that was the answer to the question of where the food came from in this miracle. It did not come from a storehouse in Heaven neither was it created de novo, it was a use of materials already present. In this case it was the five loaves and two fishes, in the case of Eve, it was Adam. Let’s consider the following Scripture passage to see this pattern in full operation.
1 Kings 17:10-16 (KJV)
10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.
12 And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
14 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.
This widow of Zarephath had to have faith in God, in the man of God, just as Adam had to have faith in God, and just as Jesus had to have faith in His Father (God). Consider the following verse concerning faith in the man of God, the Prophets of God.
2 Chronicles 20:20 (KJV)
20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. (Bold added)
Faith took what was already present in the earth and multiplied it in a supernatural fashion. This widow of Zarephath could not just say she had faith, she had to act upon the Word of the Lord, upon the Word of the man of God (a Prophet). The meal and the oil already present was multiplied supernaturally. Another very interesting, illuminating point that I make often and is missed without diligent study is that in verse fifteen the phrase “went and did” is singular in number and feminine in gender. Females are the ones who produce the offspring after receiving the proper seed. The Word of the Lord is the seed, faith exercised (acted upon) in the Word of the Lord brings forth the harvest.
Today is my birthday, however, I’m not saying which one. All I can say is that when they ask for my birth year on the internet I have to scroll down further than I like. I am the guy second from the right in the front row. God has been so good to me!

Exodus 15:26 (KJV)
26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
