HEALTH, HEALING, AND MIRACLES – PART THIRTY-FOUR
Sunday – October 28, 2018, Cheshvan 19, 5779

Greetings and welcome back to this faith building Bible Study based on the Ministry of Jesus. Never forget that the ministry of Jesus is the same ministry we are to have in the earth and we are to have the same results.
John 14:12 (KJV)
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Look back at Jesus’ departing orders for the Church in Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-20, and Luke 24:46-49. The Church, believers have been slackers just like the Israelites when they entered the Promised Land and never occupied all of their Covenant. Are you, am I, occupying our Covenant?
As we go forward with our study we will look at ten lepers.
Luke 17:11-19 (KJV)
11 And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.
12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.
These men, lepers, were by law to stand afar off. They must have heard that Jesus was coming and they had to have heard the gospel of the Kingdom of God which He preached, particularly Isaiah sixty-one which He read in the Synagogue.
Luke 4:18 (KJV)
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
These men were certainly poor in health, and captive to this awful disease that ostracized them from society and prevented employment. These men had faith already in the name of Jesus, faith in the gospel (Word of God), and in this man who brought the glory of God everywhere He went. According to the law of Moses when a cleansing or healing took place in a leper they were to present themselves to the priests and bring an offering. When these lepers called out to Jesus, their faith was released, they had no question that when He heard them, saw them, they were healed. Jesus simply shouts back that they are to go show themselves to the priests. There would be no reason to go to the priests if they were not healed, Jesus called it done, and they all immediately headed to show themselves to the priests. Notice they were on their way to the priests before they saw they were healed (acted on their faith). It is not clear how many of the lepers were Jews and how many were Gentiles however it appears that perhaps only one was a Gentile, a Samaritan. We see Gentiles receiving of the Lord out of time by faith throughout the Ministry of Jesus. We also see in the larger picture how the Jews missed the Messiah, rejected Him, however, the Gentiles, you and me, have received Him and rejoice. The blindness of the Jew will be removed at the end of the Tribulation and the remaining remnant (about 1/3) will recognize Him, and their sin will be taken away.
One of the ten lepers, the Gentile, upon seeing that the leprosy was cleansed or cured returned to Jesus to give thanks to Jesus and give glory to God. Jesus did not receive the thanks or even mention it but instead referenced glory being given to God. To give glory to God is to acknowledge the goodness of God, that all good comes from God first (originated with God). Notice what Jesus said to the one who returned.
Luke 17:19 (KJV)
19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.
The others had faith as well and they were cleansed however notice that Jesus says this man’s faith has made him whole. In this case to be cleansed means there was no sign of active infection however the ravages (scarring etc.) of the disease remained. This Gentile was made whole by his faith, and the Anointing on Jesus. However, the pivotal ingredient, the activating spark is the man’s faith. The word “whole” here is the same word also translated as saved or salvation. This is like the woman with the issue of blood whose faith also made her whole. This means that every trace of the disease was removed including physical scaring, social, financial, marital, and all others damages were reversed in that moment. Of course, some of these would require a little time but they were a done deal when he went on to show himself to the priests. Our Covenant is not just enough but abundant in overflow and if we will but have faith God will remove all of the scars and effects of the curse.
Until our next publication, I speak this Scriptural prayer for your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Exodus 15:26 (KJV)
26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
