BELIEVED ON HIM, THE SCRIPTURE, AND HIS NAME
Monday – October 15, 2018, Cheshvan 6, 5779

Greetings dear saints of God and sinners are welcome as well. How can one believe the Word of God and believe on the name, making Jesus Lord, if they do not hear? The featured pictures were all taken along the beautiful coast of Maine by my beautiful daughter in Bar Harbor or on Mount Desert Island. Today I will be continuing the powerful Bible Study from the Book of John looking at believing in Him, believing the Scripture, and believing in His name. As we will see any of these in isolation is not useful and does not produce the glory of God in the earth. As we prepare to start let each one of us ask ourselves if we really have an unwavering faith in Jesus as Lord, the Scripture (Word), and the name of Jesus. Now, let’s take a look at our primary Bible text for today reading it aloud.
John 2:11 (KJV)
11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
John 2:22-25 (KJV)
22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
As we reflect back on John 2:11 we see reference to the miracle of the water to wine at Cana as the beginning of miracles that Jesus did. Recall, that I pointed out that this is most likely referring to the first of the miracles done in His earthly ministry which started with His baptism in the River Jordan by John the Baptist. There were likely other miraculous things in His life which is why his mother, Mary, had confidence to say “Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.”. We find next that this miracle was a manifestation of “his glory”. We know that He did not do the works so this was a manifestation of the Father by Holy Spirit through Him. The glory of God is a manifestation of God (not His person but goodness in a person’s life) that is visible to all. Certainly, this miracle of water to wine was not only visible to all but very tangible to other physical senses. Everything that God does is top notch and the witness of that is that this wine was of the very highest quality and therefore expensive. It is estimated that this wine in todays money would have easily cost in the tens of thousands perhaps hundreds of thousands of dollars. This is our overflowing God producing opulence in the presence of His people by the hand of His Son (and we are to do likewise).
The next thing that Holy Spirit wants me to focus upon to expand our thinking and our faith if we so choose is believing Scripture. Faith always comes in response to the Word of God. The question is will we receive the Word, will we believe the Word, will we actively expel all doubt and perverse thinking and speech, will we declare that Word, and will we take the required corresponding actions? We find the phrase; “and his disciples believed on him.” Our first conclusion was most likely that this was a good thing and it is, but is it the thing that will bring victory in their lives? As we know from Romans chapter ten, when we hear the Word and believe on Jesus as our Lord we are saved, baptized into that name. At that moment we are what Scripture commonly refers to as a believer, a believer in Christ Jesus. This is an essential step to believing on the authority of the name of Jesus and seeing the Word of God manifest not only in our lives but in the lives of those to whom God wants us to minister. So that we are clear, we must believe upon Him as Lord (Savior), believe the Word of God, and believe that we have authority in the name of Jesus. The authority (Power of Attorney) of the name of Jesus in our mouth makes available all the Power of Heaven.
As we follow the Scripture along it seems that what they believed was that He could do miracles. Believing that Jesus or someone else does miracles does not build our faith that God will work through us in the same way. Afterall, we are to be doing the things Jesus did and greater things (John 14:12). If you or I are waiting for Jesus to do something in the earth independent of us or another person we have an eternal wait ahead of us. Having faith that God is working through a person is essential however we must be a believer (exercised faith for salvation), believe the Word of God (source of faith) nothing doubting, and have faith in the name of Jesus (authority activating Holy Spirit). When we see the lack of the manifestation of the glory of God something has broken down in this chain. The most common failure far and away is that the believer in Jesus is asking Jesus and or the Father is do whatever is required or desired. Neither the Father, Jesus, nor Holy Spirit have the authority to do things independent of a man in the earth. We must be a believer, declare the Word, or the desired result based on the Word, in the name of Jesus and then of all of Heaven is loosed to accomplish the will of God.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
