A WOMAN TAKEN IN ADULTERY
Wednesday – March 6, 2019, Adar A 29, 5779

The pictures this week are all from the same snow storm, isn’t it really pretty? Greetings and welcome back to this wonderful and powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. Today I will be moving forward into the eighth chapter of John. Also, if you are reading this on Facebook please do not forget to “like” and “share” to multiply the reach of this ministry. Now let’s turn our attention to the Truth by reading our primary Bible Text aloud.
John 8:1-5 (KJV)
1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
Jesus went to the Mount of Olives overnight and returns to the Temple in the morning where all the people called “stupid” by the leaders and cursed by the leaders came to hear Him. Now, here come the religious folks with a woman found in the very act of adultery. I suspect all of us have heard this passage of Scripture taught or preached at least once with many interesting views. Adultery is a sexual act between a man and a woman where at least one is a married person. This is forbidden in the Law with the severe penalty of death for both the man and the woman. We should gather from this just how seriously God views adultery.
Leviticus 20:10 (KJV)
10 And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
I have mentioned from time to time that adultery or fornication is not just a physical act. For example, we are likely all familiar with the words of Jesus concerning this concept.
Matthew 5:28 (KJV)
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
The word lust in this text is not talking about a casual or temporary notice of a person, in this case a woman, but a prolonged longing for and focus upon. Everything starts in the spirit realm whether it be good or bad and is expressed by words followed by actions. Listen to Jesus.
Luke 6:44-45 (KJV)
44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
The heart here is the mind, the decision maker part of the mind. When we choose by our will to think upon evil in our mind failing to take those thoughts captive and cast them out deleterious physical changes occur in the brain and throughout the body. When we speak it, which is inevitable and act upon the evil thoughts there is an accelerated destruction of the mind and brain, the physical body, and finally our spirit is crippled. The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. On the other hand, our Lord comes only with abundance. When will the Church at large get it, there is no sickness and disease in our God nor in His will for our lives, zero? God allows temptation. By our choices regarding temptations to do something other than the Word of God we bring suffering of sickness and financial issues into our lives or not. No poverty of any kind is of God. That is not to say with our recognition, submission, repentance, and appropriate actions He cannot make lemonade out of our lemons (our mess not His will), He certainly can and is eager to do so! I have gotten a little off track but I see so much of this “suffering theology” that it causes a righteous anger and a profound sadness simultaneously for this is killing people and bring peoples work in the Kingdom to a stop and into disrepute. The only suffering that is the will of God and even here He provides a way out, is temptation. This idea that God gets glory out of our suffering of poverty (financial, physical, etc.) is a great wickedness in the Church. Fornication and adultery start in the spirit realm and that starts a cascading of destruction (like other sin) that breaks the heart of God and necessitates Him to separate from those people.
Jeremiah 3:8 (KJV)
8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
Can you imagine how this broke the heart of God? Yet in the text we are studying we see this happening again. For the same reason divorce happens between natural people. It is such a betrayal, a breach of Blood Covenant even for those in a fallen state.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
