THEY UNDERSTOOD NOT – WHAT ABOUT US?
Monday – March 25, 2019, Adar B 18, 5779

Greetings my precious brothers and sisters in Christ and welcome to this powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. You may think it arrogant for me to refer to this study as powerful. I can do so for I know this does not come from me or the fund of knowledge I have acquired, but from the very Throne of God especially for you and for me. This year 2019 is and will continue to be a year of great turmoil and chaos. Always know that the turmoil and the chaos is not of the Kingdom of God, it is the reaction of the darkness to great coming light. This is the nature of Satan, the curse, and we have seen this in Genesis 1:2 just before this current renovation of the creation (Genesis 1:1) and following the Day of Sin and Death (Genesis 3:6). The rage of the world, the heathen, will increase before it decreases for the demons (our real enemies) see the bigger picture in the spirit realm. These demons hear the Prophets proclaiming the will of God in the earth. The demons know even when the Church seems oblivious that great change is just before us and is inevitable. The kingdom of darkness is about to suffer great loses. Now, let’s turn our attention specifically to our primary Bible text in John and see what the Lord might have to say to us all. Please read it aloud.
John 8:26-30 (KJV)
26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
As we prepare to move into verse twenty-seven, I want to linger just a bit with twenty-six. This is a very powerful verse for us to read carefully, digest, and actually do it. Can you imagine? Actually, do it! As part of this study let’s examine the same verse in a different Bible translation.
John 8:26 (TLB)
26 I could condemn you for much and teach you much, but I won’t, for I say only what I am told to by the one who sent me; and he is Truth.”
Folks, I hate to put it like this but this is an admonition about keeping our mouth shut unless the Father has loosed us to talk. Another thing I want us to notice is that Jesus is talking with religious folks but He refers to them as the “world”. The world is the lost, then and now. Jesus had not yet gone to the Cross and taken our sin and given us His righteousness, yet, by faith these folks could reach into that dispensation (Grace) and obtain His righteousness. Faith always reaches God, pleases God, moves the Hand of God, and receives the very best of God. There are those who believe that because they found “The Great Commission” in the Bible they have a license to go everywhere and get in everyone’s face with whatever they want to say. Does the Bible on the whole teach this, does Jesus teach us that? If you are struggling with this, the answer is, NO. Just like Jesus, just like the Prophets that preceded Jesus we are to go, do, and say only as the Father gives instruction through the Holy Spirit.
As we move from verse twenty-six, we are well aware that the “He” and the “Him” are God the Father, however, the people to whom Jesus is speaking are not aware of that for these are carnal people trying to satisfy the Law. More importantly and sadly they are the ruling religious class (leaders). Again, we see Jesus conducting a spiritual conversation and His audience speaking in carnal, natural terms. We see this all too often today, people talking the problem and full of questions, and the Word (Jesus) talking the solution. All along Jesus has been telling them that He is sent of the Father and that He is the Messiah. He has pointed out to them that Moses taught of Him and if they believe Moses, they should believe Him, if they knew the Father, they would know Him. Of course, they did not know the Father due to the pollution and corruption of the Word so they could not recognize the Son, the Messiah. They started with the same text of Scripture, however, Jesus taught it in the pure form as received initially from Heaven, and the scribes and pharisees taught a very corrupted word of tradition and doctrines of demons like today. Just imagine, Jesus is the one who spoke this Word in the first place as the Word, as God, and now as a man is speaking the same Word again.
As we delve into the twenty-eighth verse Jesus is talking to them about the approaching Crucifixion. Jesus says, “when ye have lifted up the Son of man” which emphasizes His humanity and that it will be the Jews who are responsible for the crucifixion. Yes, technically the Romans will do the actual work but Pilate would have let Jesus go except for the persistence of the religious ruling class. The good news however that He lets them in on is that they will then know that He was and is the Messiah and His arms are wide open to them and all others. Jesus goes on again to make it clear that He did nothing of Himself, speaking only what the Father taught Him. When do you suppose we will pick up on this pattern and start to get the results Jesus got in obedience to the Father with the flow of the Holy Spirit?
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
