THE LUST OF YOUR FATHER
Tuesday – April 9, 2019, Nisan 4, 5779
Greetings precious partners and friends of this Ministry and The Three Minute Word publication and welcome back to this powerful study of the Book of John. Our God is so good not to leave us in the dark, please let us not leave our friends in the dark when we have so much light. Now, let’s plunge into the Word of God, our Bible Study today by first reading the primary text aloud.
John 8:43-47 (KJV)
43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
47 He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
As we move forward into verse forty-four, we continue to see Jesus as a very plain spoken, clear speaking Ambassador of the Father in the earth. He told the religious folks gathered that day that they were of their father the devil. I wonder how well that would go over in the average Church? It is better to speak the Truth and be rejected than to speak a lie (sugar coated truth) and be accepted. We have an unwavering responsibility to speak the Truth, which is one of the greatest expressions of love possible. As we look at this and move forward let me remind us all of the guiding principal for Jesus and for us. He only said what the Father gave Him to say, He only did what He saw the Father doing, and the Father did the works or was responsible for the outcomes. This is the pattern for us as well and not to just run off at our mouths at will. These people listening to Jesus are professing to know and to love God even teach the people about God but Jesus is making it very clear to them that is not the case at all. Consider the following Words of Jesus.
Mark 7:6 (KJV)
6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
Is this going on in the Church house today, in your Church, in my Church, even our houses? In case you might be tempted to think it is only in that other Church or those other peoples houses let us all closely examine what we are calling the truth. Is it the truth, have we searched the Scriptures diligently? There are only two fathers, one is Father God and the other father is Satan, and that is it. We are following one or the other. Unfortunately, the Church, the people constituting the Church, are mixing a knowledge of good and evil and getting the exact same result as Adam and Eve in the Garden. When we do that our father is Satan. We are proclaiming God as our Father and Jesus as our Savior with our mouths but our hearts are far from Him. By our hearts I am saying our thoughts, words, and actions are not His but those of the world systems, those of Satan. If we have, believe, a corrupted gospel, it is not of God but of Satan and will never result in a supernatural result. Our life will be no better than that of those in the world and in many cases worse because the demons want to put God’s people to shame. The devils are pretty happy with us just having a corrupted doctrine because it is powerless.
In our text you may have noted the word “lusts” which means a longing for or to set one’s heart upon. Are lusts always evil? No, of course not, we can lust after the things of God meaning to long for and to set our heart upon the things of God. This is where I pray, we all are located. The word “lusts” here is clearly used in conjunction with the devil which are always evil, 100% of the time. Jesus points out to them that the devil is a murderer and a liar with no truth in Him from the beginning. Not only does Jesus say that but that they also are murderers and liars like their father, the devil. A lie is anything which is not the truth, and sometimes a lie has the effect of murder in terms of a persons reputation. Jesus is referring to the lies the Serpent told Eve in the Garden and the murder of Able by Cain in our text. In the end they lie about Jesus to crucify Him and the crucifixion of Jesus was a murder, not a carrying out of justice. Jesus was without sin before man or God.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
