TRADITIONS, LIES, and TRUTH – PART THIRTY-ONE
GUARDING OUR HEART – PART ONE

Greetings my precious brother and sisters, saints of the Kingdom, children, sons and daughters of the Father in Christ Jesus. Welcome back to our Saturday series titled “Traditions, Lies, and Truth”. In this series my goal is to illuminate contaminated thinking that keeps us from victory in Christ Jesus. Jesus did not come and deal with the sin question so that we could have poverty with broken down bodies but to give us life as He and the Father know life in Heaven and really as He knew life in the earth. We have no record that Jesus was ever in poverty nor do we have a record that He missed ministry days due to sickness or disease. Since He is our prime example and we are commanded to do everything He did and even greater things, what is the problem? The problem pure and simple is that the gospel we are hearing, and thus the thoughts we have, the words we speak, and actions we take are not of God but traditions of men or doctrines of devils. And, yes, we learned the vast majority of it right in Church. The devil’s main seat of deception is in the Church and the main source of persecution is from the Church. Selah!
It is the responsibility of each one of us to zealously guard what we hear and when we do hear something to compare it to the Word of God and decide to give it entrance or reject it. We have the capacity to check our thoughts, which includes what we have heard, every ten seconds and make a decision about it. Are we testing everything as a good Berean?
Acts 17:10-11 (KJV)
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
When I say we are to test everything, I am talking about everything! For example, are we listening to secular music, watching secular TV (or Christian TV for that matter), do we spend time with unsaved family, and so on? Are we just joining in with all of the unbelief and blasphemy or are we being careful to toss out the false? I am not saying we are not to visit with unsaved family, by all means do, how else (hopefully) can they see the changed life, see the wonderful difference the light, life in Christ Jesus makes. What I am saying is that time should be quite limited and we must be guarding our ears, our thoughts, and our responses. Jesus is very clear on this matter. Jesus visited with and ate with sinners but He was generally at the center of the conversation. Jesus never hesitated to speak the Truth or to answer lies with the Truth.
Mark 4:23-25 (KJV)
23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
Bottom line to what Jesus said is that if we receive a lie as the Truth, we will then receive more lies as the truth and soon all of our thoughts are a perverse mixture or all lies. The enemy will dress the lies up to confuse or sound really right and religious. Listen to the Master’s Words in the Amplified Translation for perhaps more clarity.
Mark 4:23-25 (AMP)
23 If any man has ears to hear, let him be listening and let him perceive and comprehend.
24 And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you—and more [besides] will be given to you who hear.
25 For to him who has will more be given; and from him who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away [by force],
Consider the following.
Proverbs 23:7 (KJV)
7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
If any of us are wondering why our world (financial status, health, and so on) is the way it is, wonder no more. Each of our worlds have been created by we ourselves by the thoughts which we truly believe, in which we had faith, whether they be good or bad. The admonition, life and death admonition, given Adam and Eve is still valid and is still a life and death admonition.
Genesis 2:16-17 (KJV)
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
