GUARDING OUR HEART – PART FIVE
Saturday – September 14, 2019, Elul 14, 5779
Greetings precious and diligent children, sons and daughters of our Father God. Welcome back to this Saturday series of Traditions, Lies, and Truth. If you are reading this on Facebook, please take just a moment and hit the “love” and “share” buttons to give us feedback and spread the gospel. I have been speaking about guarding our heart and I will continue in that vein today. Just as we would not purposely consume corrupted, contaminated, or spoiled natural food we should be equally if not more diligent to avoid the same for the spiritual body. It is exponentially more important to avoid contaminated or corrupted information from entering our spiritual body than spoiled natural food from entering our natural body. As a reminder recall that everything that effects our natural world has its origins in the spirit realm. Words that we receive as the Truth but are corrupted such that they are contrary to the Word of God will eventually sow stealing, killing, and destroying into our spiritual and then our natural lives! Yes, we may still end up in Heaven but not when we are satisfied and victorious but rather in defeat as a result of the curse which we allowed. Let each of us right now determine that we will not be lazy Christians and we will devour the pure Word but not the contaminated Word.
Acts 17:10-11 (KJV)
10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Are we part of the Thessalonica crowd chasing away the Truth or are we a Berean and prove the Word keeping the true? I am determined that I will be a true Berean, keeping the good, the true, and discarding all else. We have a very sober responsibility to watch out for ourselves but also for those God has either placed in our care or brought into our sphere of influence.
2 Corinthians 11:3-4 (KJV)
3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
Seems this describes a foolish and lazy Christian which accepts all no matter the speaker hook line and sinker. This ought not be so. Let’s take a look at this in a different translation.
2 Corinthians 11:3-4 (TLB)
3 But I am frightened, fearing that in some way you will be led away from your pure and simple devotion to our Lord, just as Eve was deceived by Satan in the Garden of Eden.
4 You seem so gullible: you believe whatever anyone tells you even if he is preaching about another Jesus than the one we preach, or a different spirit than the Holy Spirit you received, or shows you a different way to be saved. You swallow it all.
Let us quit swallowing everything we hear without any critical thought, prove all things. Don’t accept it because it is what we have heard all our lives. Ask, how do I know this is true? Who are the confirming witnesses? Confirm all things by at least two different witnesses.
Galatians 1:6-7 (AMP)
6 I am surprised and astonished that you are so quickly turning renegade and deserting Him Who invited and called you by the grace (unmerited favor) of Christ (the Messiah) [and that you are transferring your allegiance] to a different [even an opposition] gospel.
7 Not that there is [or could be] any other [genuine Gospel], but there are [obviously] some who are troubling and disturbing and bewildering you [with a different kind of teaching which they offer as a gospel] and want to pervert and distort the Gospel of Christ (the Messiah) [into something which it absolutely is not].
What about you and me, have we gone renegade? We must not tolerate any perversion of the Word of God dear ones.
1 Timothy 4:1-2 (KJV)
1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
The more we hear the lie, think about the lie, repeat the lie, and believe the lie the more seared our hearts become to the Truth. Let us not allow our hearts to be seared, hardened, and allow not our necks to be stiff. Let not the traditions of men be our standard.
Mark 7:7-8 (KJV)
7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
Mark 7:13 (KJV)
13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
Corrupted word brings defeat and consolidates our defeat (we go from bad to worse). I for one am determined to live the abundant life, to go from one level of the glory of God to yet higher levels until Jesus comes or I am satisfied.

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
