HINDERING GOD – PART TWO

Greetings dear partners and friends of this Ministry and The Three Minute Word blog. Our God is so very good. Welcome to this ongoing Saturday series titled “Traditions, Lies, and Truth” where I seek to illuminate what will bring and maintain the curse in our lives and what will bring and maintain the blessing in our lives. The ongoing topic for this series today and the next three weeks is the question; is it possible to hinder God. Another question might be as to whether it is possible to stop the plan of God. Now let’s get into our topic.
As discussed last week, I am talking about hindering the plan of God in people groups (like our Church) and in our individual lives not the overarching plan of God. Of course, a very cursory examination of any group or our personal lives should tell us with great clarity that yes indeed we do hinder God and big time at that. I will now start the examination of three instances of God’s perfect plan being hindered in the account of the Israelites being delivered from Egypt. Remember we are talking about believing another gospel, following a voice other than the voice of God. When we listen to other voices we depart from faith in God and have faith in another god and are separated from God. Perhaps we choose to honor a tradition of men in place of the Word of God which removes the power of God from our lives. We must purpose in our hearts, each and every one of us, be careful to match everything with the Word of God. Not what we are told the Word of God means or says but what we see it says with our own diligent study. Diligent study includes but is not limited to reading Scripture in context, discovering who is speaking and who the target audience is, looking at various translations of the Bible, finding at least one confirming witness, and confirming the meaning of various words in the Hebrew and Greek.
The first hindrance of God’s plan for the deliverance of Israel from Egypt is during the years of bondage. We will pick this up as God is making Blood Covenant with Abram. God tells Abram that his seed (the Jews) will serve another nation four-hundred years but will come out of bondage in the fourth generation from Abram. This is the true Gospel.
Genesis 15:13 (KJV)
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
Genesis 15:16 (KJV)
16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
Yet, they do not come out for four-hundred and thirty years. Another gospel, leaning to ones’ own understanding, caused a delay of thirty years. In all we will see a seventy-year delay in these Covenant people entering the Promised Land. How have we delayed our entry into the Promised Land Jesus bought at Calvary?
Exodus 12:40 (KJV)
40 Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.
What happened here? Also, there is no mention of forty years in the wilderness after leaving Egypt. Stay tuned and I will explain.
Also, God told the Abram the parameters or borders of the land they were to occupy on coming out of bondage.
Genesis 15:18-21 (KJV)
18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,
21 And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
They have never occupied all of this land even to this day. Why? Listen to their answer, a pitiful reasoning. What are our pathetic reasons?
Joshua 17:13-18 (KJV)
13 Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel were waxen strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute; but did not utterly drive them out.
14 And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me hitherto?
15 And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.
16 And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.
17 And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:
18 But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.
Now hear Joshua’s answer.
Joshua 18:3 (KJV)
3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you? (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
They were commanded to drive out the inhabitants of the land entirely, 100% but they did not. Have we been slack? Have we driven the curse out of our lives or are we nursing it and not walking in the fulness of blessing promised, secured at Calvary?

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
