THE SERVANT IS NOT GREATER THAN HIS LORD
Wednesday – October 9, 2019, Tishrei 10, 5780

Greetings my precious brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and welcome back to this empowering study of the Book of John. As I have said before these teaching, the Word of God in general, is only empowering when it is received, believed, kept in the midst of our hearts, and spoken in faith, in love (agape). None of us must never forget, lose sight of the Truth, that our entire life (now and eternity) is determined by our response to the Word of God. Another foundational Truth is that God is good and any bad stuff is not put there by God nor is it a failure of God. We have in one way or another sanctioned (authorized) or given permission for every bit of the curse that is established in our lives. The pictures this week will be of various scenes here in Maine except for Friday which will be of Donna and me, the leaders of this Ministry. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to hit the “love” and “share” buttons to give us encouraging feedback and to expand the reach of the gospel. Now, let us turn our attention to our primary Bible text for our study in the Book of John.
John 13:15-17 (KJV)
15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
Jesus prepared the disciples to pick up His Mantle (Holy Spirit) and His work when He was gone back to the right hand of the Father. The Father had sent Him and His beautiful feet brought the good news of the Kingdom and the Power of God to all who would receive and now it was up to the disciples. We also are His disciples. Next, verse sixteen, Jesus tells them and us that we, His servants by choice, are not greater than Him just as He was not greater than the Father (the one who sent Him). Jesus is the one who sends us. I want to repeat that we are not servants as were the people of the Old Testament but we are His very own children, the sons of God. The reason they were servants and we are not is they were not and could not be born again thus even though they worshipped (submitted) God they were not in the family of God. They did receive a protected status under their covenant until Messiah could come. When Messiah came and paid the price of sin, their sins and ours they became sons of God and were freed from the bosom of Abraham and are now in Heaven.
Galatians 4:4-7 (KJV)
4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
As I understand it a person, a son (we are all sons male and female) under Jewish law who is adopted has the same status as a first-born son, entitled to the blessing of the first born, and the double portion of the first born. Now back to our primary text verse sixteen.
John 13:16 (KJV)
16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
Just as Jesus was not greater (in rank) than the Father, neither are we greater than the Father or Jesus. Seems like that should be obvious but I wanted to be clear. However, notice that He did not say He or we were less. Let’s take a look at some other Scripture along these lines. I am not saying nor implying that we are in anyway equal to or as God (capital G). We are as gods (little g) created in His image and likeness, with His DNA but not directly possessing the attributes of being all powerful (omnipotent), all knowing (omniscient), and everywhere present (omnipresent). Tomorrow, Lord willing, I will pick up this study right here.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
