HAVE YOU CHANGED YOUR MIND?
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome to our Sunday Bible Study. The Lord is so good! I know I say this often, but really, we don’t need to know much more about God then that He is good. Do bad things enter our lives, sure, we know that if we have been alive ten minutes. Knowing that God is good lets us know He was not the author. Jesus put it this way.
John 10:10 (NKJV)
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Don’t get the idea that “the thief” has free access to your life. You have to let him in. Just as Jesus stands at the door and knocks so does the thief. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary study for today and our primary Bible text.
Romans 12:1-2 (NKJV)
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Our focus today will be the second verse, hence the title of this teaching. Have we changed our mind, our way of thinking, from that of the world to that of our Heavenly Father? You may have heard this referred to in the past as World View vs Biblical World View. I think we can all see that it is our responsibility to give ourselves over to service in the Kingdom of God and it is our individual responsibility to renew our mind from thinking like the world to thinking like God. This is accomplished by the Word of God, receiving it, believing it, doubting it not, and doing it. Another way of putting would be to make His Words our words. Our response to anything especially adverse circumstances need to be His response (what does the Word say about it). Another verse that is a companion to our primary text follows.
Ephesians 4:22-24 (NKJV)
22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,
23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Did you notice that verse twenty-three clearly tells us that our mind is of the spirit realm, the fourth dimension? Dr. Caroline Leaf, a Christian brain scientist, says the mind has one foot in the brain and one foot in the spirit man. Who is responsible for putting off the old conduct which includes our thoughts and words and putting on the new way of thinking and speaking? It is us! The Lord will help but it will not just happen and will not happen just by listening to the Word. This takes intentional focused conscientious effort on our part.
Now, you may have been wondering about the picture at the start of this teaching. It is one square inside another connected together. The inner square is representative of this material or three-dimensional world and the outer square is representative of the fourth dimension which we have more commonly referred to as the spirit realm. The material world is contained within and controlled by the spirit realm. Our thoughts and words originate in the spirit realm or fourth dimension and brings about changes in the third dimension or material world. There is nothing more important than our thoughts and words, period.
Lord willing, next Sunday I will have a fresh Word from the Throne. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
