CLOUDS WITHOUT WATER
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to the Sunday edition of The Three Minute Word. The Lord is so good and gracious to all His children. Today I am going to briefly talk about a term we find in the Bible Book of Jude and is the title of todays study, “clouds without water”. There are various colloquial (everyday) terms that are used to say pretty much the same thing. First let’s read our primary Bible text in the Book of Jude.
Jude 1:12-16 (NASB)
12 These are the men who are hidden reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted; (bold added)
13 wild waves of the sea, casting up their own shame like foam; wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever.
14 It was also about these men that Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones,
15 to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”
16 These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage.
These are the big talkers in your Church but are clouds without water, talk without manifestation. These are the boasters, the narcissists among us. People drawing attention to themselves. When I say talk without manifestation I am talking about the absence of Godly manifestation, there is manifestation of all talk that we believe or have faith in. These can be Scriptural or devilish. Then, there are also idle words which are those words spoken that we don’t believe but are spoken as a token or tradition. Words that are contrary to Scripture or idle words are sin. These people are not just in the Church they are in the secular world, the work places, homes and so on. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be a cloud without water, I want my life to manifest the goodness of God. There is way to much talk about the goodness of God in Church with so little manifestation, bona fide manifestation.
Proverbs 25:14 (NIV)
14 Like clouds and wind without rain is a man who boasts of gifts he does not give.
These are men and women who talk a good game but do not deliver on game day. For example, these are people who talk about generosity, but there is no known testimony of their generosity. Our text refers to men but it is not speaking of gender but mankind (male and female alike).
2 Peter 2:17 (NIV)
17 These men are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them.
These people are agents of the devil, look good, sound good, but produce nothing. This is not to say they are not saved, for some are no doubt, but they are deeply deceived. Other are just plain shysters. Remember the words of Jesus.
Matthew 7:15-20 (KJV)
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here with more Truth from the Throne next Sunday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
