COLUMBUS DAY

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and greetings to you that are not saints of God, you are still precious. Welcome back to our study of “THE TRAIL OF BLOOD”. I will be talking about this transition in our nation from celebrating Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples Day for just a moment. I wrote about this extensively on 14 and 15 October 2024 and of course the videos for those dates will have the material as well. I suppose many of you like me, remember singing the song about Columbus sailing the ocean blue in 1492. So why the change?
This change of focus from Columbus and all that means to the “indigenous peoples” on this land is a bit like Israel having an Amorite Day. The Amorites among many others were the indigenous peoples of that land until the Israelites led by Joshua entered the land about 1400 BC. However, the land was deeded to the Israelites (Abram/Abraham) around 2000 BC. They were not a nation in the time of Abram but were a mighty nation in the time of Joshua. It was the judgment of God that allowed the Israelites to take the land previously occupied. If that people or the people who occupied this land were righteous in God’s eyes they might still be in the land as the predominate force. I urge you to look at the teachings from last year. Now on to The Trail of Blood teaching #21.
I have been talking about Moses and the Sin Offerings on our way to the ultimate Sin Offering for eternity. Remember I am teaching from my book “Awake, Arise, and Triumph – Book II – God’s Road to Redemption”, chapter six. We are dealing with sins of ignorance, and the following passage is directed at the individual but as you read in this chapter it is the same process if there is an unintentional sin occurring widely among the people. The wages of sin is death (Romans 3:25 and 6:23), whether it be unintentional or intentional.
Leviticus 4:1-7 (ESV)
1 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
2 “Speak to the people of Israel, saying, If anyone sins unintentionally in any of the LORD’s commandments about things not to be done, and does any one of them,
3 if it is the anointed priest who sins, thus bringing guilt on the people, then he shall offer for the sin that he has committed a bull from the herd without blemish to the LORD for a sin offering.
4 He shall bring the bull to the entrance of the tent of meeting before the LORD and lay his hand on the head of the bull and kill the bull before the LORD.
5 And the anointed priest shall take some of the blood of the bull and bring it into the tent of meeting,
6 and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle part of the blood seven times before the LORD in front of the veil of the sanctuary.
7 And the priest shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of fragrant incense before the LORD that is in the tent of meeting, and all the rest of the blood of the bull he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering that is at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
The bullock was brought to the door of the tabernacle and killed there. In chapter nine of my book, I address the Tabernacle, since it is a veiled picture of Jesus – a picture of redemption. Remember this book is available for digital download from the website for $5.00. I’d like to say at this point, that the door of the tabernacle symbolizes or points to Christ.
John 10:7-9 (KJV)
7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
For now, form a very simple picture of the Tabernacle in your mind. The shape is rectangle (50 x 100 cubits) and on one end is the door and there is only one door or gate symbolizing Jesus. Just inside the gate, in the courtyard, is the Alter of Burnt Offering (symbolizing the cross and work of the Holy Spirit), where the blood is poured out and the body burned. He took our sin in His body that we could be dead to sin and live to righteousness (1 Peter 2:24). More tomorrow!
TAKE HOME:
- Today is Columbus Day, God’s Covenant people are rightfully in this land.
- Jesus is the only way of Redemption; His Blood is the only Blood to cleanse.
- The wages of sin demands a death and the shedding of sin.
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
