NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME

Greetings dear saints and others and welcome to this exciting and instructive study of the Kingdom of God. Doing things the Kingdom of God way brings the Kingdom of God and the will of God into our lives in the earth. Jesus commanded us to pray for the Kingdom of God and the will of God to come into the earth. The more we walk in the ways of God the more our lives will manifest peace and joy. That does not mean we will not be presented with challenges. It does mean that we have an impenetrable defense and do not have to allow them in. Fear breaks down the hedge and the serpent will bite. We keep them outside the hedge. The Kingdom of God is within us in the Holy Spirit, and it is righteousness, peace, and joy.
Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
As I have mentioned dozens of times this is a command, it is doable, it is actionable revelation. We can have the Kingdom of God on the earth, in our lives, to the extent that we do things His way. Not seeing this in our own life or in the lives of people around us does not mean it is not true, it means we and they are not doing it His way. I know this is not really popular, we would rather someone pat our head and tell us we are fine. Let me ask this. Do you want to be prepared for the Judgment Seat of Christ? I will now move forward into our next teaching from the mouth of the Master.
Luke 16:13-17 (ESV)
13 No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
14 The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they ridiculed him.
15 And he said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
16 “The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone forces his way into it.
17 But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one dot of the Law to become void.
Our text starts with Jesus telling those listening and us that you cannot love two things equally. Whoever or whatever is first is what you will serve. Remember the first Commandment is that we shall have no other gods before the Lord our God. Anything that comes before God in our lives is an abomination in the sight of God. It is an idol and opens the door to the enemy who comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. In the earth we need money, and we need lots of it to fulfil all the Scripture and advance the Kingdom of God. Money is to be a tool like our car, our house, and so on that we use to serve God, and serve people.
Verse sixteen is not telling us that the Law and the Prophets have passed away but that what they spoke of is now in the earth, namely the Savior, the Lamb of God has come. Verse seventeen makes it clear that none of the Scripture has become void. Remember there are two things associated with righteousness. One which came with the Cross and Resurrection is right standing with the Father, the other is right doing. Before the Cross and Resurrection, they could do right but had no entry into the Kingdom of God.
TAKE HOME:
- In Christ Jesus we are safe, outside of Him we are lion food.
- None of the Word of God is ever void and passed away.
- We are to have no other gods before the Lord.
Lord willing, I will resume right here next Saturday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
