I PRAY NOT FOR THE WORLD

Greetings to our dear and precious friends and Partners and welcome back to this insightful (revelation from God) Bible Study of the Book of John. Another week is off and running. Are we running with God? Before you go any further please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to extend the reach, the influence, of this Ministry but more importantly the reach of the Truth. It is the Truth after all that makes us free. Free from what? The curse! The featured picture today is courtesy of our friend Joe Getchell Jr. I saw this caboose by the train station in Pittsfield Maine and mentioned it to Joe and bam here it is. Thank you, Joe. Like yesterday, before we dive into our primary Bible text for today let’s consider a couple of questions. Will God ever lead us to violate the laws of the land that do not violate His laws? Is violating the laws of the land sin? How much sin, or under what circumstances, is sin okay with God? Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 17:9-12 (KJV)
9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
Yesterday I ended with a brief discussion on the topic of intercession and its absolute necessity in all of our lives. Don’t we suppose that Jesus and the Holy Spirit know exactly how to intercede for us, exactly what needs to be said to the Father. You might be a little bit lost if you skipped yesterday and just jumped into this teaching. At the outset of verse nine we find Jesus interceding for those who are His. Those who are His are those who have received the Word, are doing the Word, and believe He came out from the Father. In our text Jesus immediately tells the Father that He is not praying for the world (persons in the world, unsaved) but for His own. God has done all that is necessary to redeem every person on the planet. The Savior has come, the price is paid for sin, and we are redeemed from the curse. The question is this, will we choose to receive Him (the Word), do the Word, and believe Jesus came out from the Father? The Bible Book of Roman’s tells us we must believe the Father raised Him from the dead. Not only did Jesus, the Word, second person of the Triune Co-equal God come out from the Father into the earth as a man. He allowed Himself to be made sin, die upon a Cross, take our place in Hell and then be raised from the dead, restored as God, and now seated at the Father’s right hand. He is there forever interceding for us in the presence of His very own Blood, the Covenant, and the Mercy Seat. Let’s remind ourselves of the following passage and the wonderful provision of the Father.
John 3:15-18 (KJV)
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
You see before Jesus the world was already condemned as are people today who have not received Jesus as Lord and believe the Father raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). The Father wants everyone to receive Jesus, believe upon Him, but He will not make anyone believe, it is our choice, we are freewill creations. The devil(s) cannot prevent the salvation of anyone. We ourselves, and we alone, make the conscious decision for or against salvation. If you have not believed on Him do so today, the trajectory of this life and the one to come will be changed in many wonderful ways beyond human imagination. Rejecting Jesus continues to give the curse (nothing good) free reign in our lives and then Hell for eternity. Not a very attractive travel brochure but the travel brochure in Him is stunning. Jesus is not praying for the lost in our text nor is He praying from them today. He and the Father have done all they are going to do for the lost however we have a critical role in bringing people out of darkness into His marvelous light. Yes, God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) will do the supernatural works but we must go, do the works Jesus did, and move further into the greater works. Just as in Jesus day and the first century believers doing the works Jesus did will draw people in droves into the Kingdom of God. Just imagine what the greater works will do! Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
