I PRAY FOR THEM

Greetings to our dear and precious friends and Partners and welcome back to this insightful (revelation from God) Bible Study of the Book of John. Another week is off and running. Are we running with God? Before you go any further please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to extend the reach, the influence, of this Ministry but more importantly the reach of the Truth. It is the Truth after all that makes us free. Free from what? The curse! The featured picture today is courtesy of our friend Joe Getchell Jr. Before we dive into our primary Bible text for today let’s consider a couple of questions. Will God ever lead us to violate the laws of the land that do not violate His laws? Is violating the laws of the land sin? How much or under what circumstances is sin okay with God? Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 17:9-12 (KJV)
9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
You will recall that we are in the waning few hours of Jesus Ministry as a man in the earth. Jesus has been speaking in a long discourse to the gathered disciples and now He is talking to the Father. We see many times in Scripture where Jesus prayed but none of those are recorded for us however here in the seventeenth chapter of John, He and the Father want us to not only hear this prayer, but profit from it. As we launch into verse nine of our text Jesus is telling the Father He is praying for them. Let’s ask ourselves, who is the ‘them’? The ‘them’ are those who have kept His Words (verse six), those who have received the Word (verse eight), and those who believed Jesus came from the Father (verse eight). When we pray for another person, we are interceding for them regarding some issue. Jesus in our primary text is interceding for those who are His, who have believed on Him. Dear brother and sisters, not only is Jesus even this day interceding for us but the Holy Spirit is interceding as well.
Romans 8:26 (KJV)
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (Bold added)
Romans 8:34 (KJV)
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. (Bold added)
Hebrews 7:25 (KJV)
25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. (Bold added)
Dear ones we may think we are the cats’ meow but we need lots of work and lots of intercession. Romans 8:26 highlights the critical nature of being baptized in or filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues and the ongoing use of tongues in prayer. When we know not how to pray for another (and we usually don’t), ourselves, or situations around us we have the Holy Spirit who will give us the perfect will of God to utter in another tongue. Romans 8:34 and Hebrews 7:25 reassure us that Jesus, the Master, our risen Savior Himself at the Right Hand of the Father is interceding for us. I don’t know about you but I for one am very thankful for this intercession by God Himself. I am thankful for those around me that intercede before the Throne of God daily for me. Dear ones this is lifesaving. Only God knows on this side of Heaven what calamities have been thwarted in our lives until we came to ourselves. Consider the following passage.
2 Timothy 2:25-26 (KJV)
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Let us be diligent to pray this not only for ourselves but our Christian brothers and sisters, and even the lost in our lives. Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
