THE DAY OF PENTECOST HAS FULLY COME

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from Awake, Arise, and Triumph Ministries. God is so good. Today at sundown (6 pm) is the start of the Feast of the Lord called Pentecost. Not only was “the Day of Pentecost fully come” some 2000 years ago but is fully come to this day and forever. The word ‘Pentecost’ has to do with number fifty. The Feast of Pentecost is the fourth of the four spring feasts of the Lord. This Feast is fifty days after the Feast of First fruits or seven weeks after the 16th of Nisan which is the second day of Passover or Unleavened Bread. This Feast of the Lord is also called the Feast of Weeks being seven (spiritual completion) weeks counting from the 17th of Nisan (the day Jesus was resurrected from the dead – a day of victory [#17]). These feasts are not only for Gods’ first Covenant people in an ancient time but for us today. These Feasts of the Lord are not to be swept into the dustbin of history but teach important Truths for today. Let’s read the Lord’s command concerning this Feast.
Leviticus 23:15-21 (KJV)
15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:
16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.
17 Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.
18 And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto the LORD, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto the LORD.
19 Then ye shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin offering, and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice of peace offerings.
20 And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits for a wave offering before the LORD, with the two lambs: they shall be holy to the LORD for the priest.
21 And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile work therein: it shall be a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.
Since it is a command of the Lord to celebrate or commemorate this Feast forever (verse twenty-one), why is that not happening in Christian Churches around the world? The first Pentecost was when Moses ascended Mount Sinai and received the Law, including the Ten Commandments, directly from God. The second Pentecost was the pouring out of the Holy Spirit for the empowerment of any who would receive Jesus and receive Him making Jehovah Father.
When one is born again, saved, they receive the Holy Spirit and He lives within making our spirit man alive to God and communing with our spirit man. There is a second experience with the Holy Spirit generally known as the filling of the Holy Spirit when we are endued with Power and have the initial evidence of speaking in tongues (a language unknown to the speaker). This is what is celebrated by the Church today and not the first Pentecost on Mount Sinai. Also there tends to be an emphasis on the speaking in tongues and not the receiving of Power for the work of God. Let’s look at what Jesus had to say about the coming, really the return of the Holy Spirit available to all.
John 14:15-17 (KJV)
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Just before Jesus’ ascension to the right hand of the Father He said this about the Holy Spirit soon to come.
Acts 1:8 (KJV)
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Notice Jesus emphasized Power not tongues. That is not to say that tongues are not vital to the believer. As Jesus said it came to pass.
Acts 2:1-4 (KJV)
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
What a day that must have been. On this path of the full restitution of all things (return to the Garden of Eden) there remains the the redemption of our bodies and the final snuffing out of all death, spiritual and physical. Of course, beyond that is the elimination of all evil forces with new heavens and a new earth. What about this new body we are to get?
Romans 8:22-23 (KJV)
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
1 Corinthians 15:54-56 (KJV)
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
TAKE HOME:
- The Day of Pentecost speaks to a very important step in the restitution of all things necessary since the rebellion of man.
- The Day of Pentecost spoken of in Acts was and is a jubilee for all mankind that chose Jesus as Lord.
- Salvation gets one in the door, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit equips one to run the race with excellence.
