I pray that you find all of the good day that God has placed in your day and send greetings from Eastern Gate Ministries International. As you are diligent in the Kingdom of God may The Blessing surround you and go before you today for the glory of God. Now, let’s prepare our hearts to receive God’s Word and make it our own.
Colossians 2:6 (KJV)
6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
To walk in Him we must be immersed in Him. We must study the Policy and Procedure Manual (Scripture) and make it our own, His will is our will, His thoughts are our thoughts, His words are our words, His actions are our actions, and His goals and objectives are our goals and objectives. Think about it, this is how a successful family works, or a successful business works. For some reason people in the body of Christ have the idea that the Kingdom of God is altogether different than anything they are familiar with and that is a false idea. If we work for General Motors but we are thinking and talking Chrysler the boss at General Motors after counseling and warning will likely suggest that we go ahead and join the Chrysler team. Likewise you can be born again and in the Kingdom of God but thinking, talking, and acting like the world (the devils sphere of influence) thereby promoting the devils agenda and not God’s. Well how do we think that is going to work out for us so far as walking in the promises of God? What is the likelihood of our being promoted at General Motors or the Kingdom of God? Zero! Unlike the General Motors scenario God will not throw us out of the Kingdom of God but He will suffer anguish watching us suffer unnecessary tragedy in our lives much like many parents do their wayward children. We will not be a good witness for the Kingdom of God and have too little or no lasting fruit to present on judgement day at the Beamer (Judgement Seat) of Christ. Let’s move ahead now and look at our text in a few different translations.
Colossians 2:6 (MSG)
6 My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you’ve been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him.
The Message Bible tells us to live as He lived. Look at the following quote of the Apostle Paul written by Dr. Luke.
Acts 17:28 (KJV)
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
Let’s go ahead and look at another translation.
Colossians 2:6 (GW)
6 You received Christ Jesus the Lord, so continue to live as Christ’s people.
God’s Word translation tells us to “live as Christ’s people.” Remember the word translated from Greek to English as Christ can be translated; Messiah, Anointed One, or Anointing. We are to live with the full knowledge of the Messiah, His work at Calvary, the Blood Covenant which we entered at salvation, and have become a participant and a recipient through the work of Jesus. This is so because the Father loved us, found a man who would enter Blood Covenant by the name of Abraham. Because of this Covenant between Abraham and God we are redeemed from the curse of sin and death, our body will be redeemed to everlasting life, and we are again clothed, and filled with God’s very own Holy Spirit.
Colossians 2:6 (TLB)
6 And now just as you trusted Christ to save you, trust him, too, for each day’s problems; live in vital union with him.
The Living Bible translates the passage saying we are to “live in vital union with him.” The word vital can mean; fundamental, essential, critical, crucial, central, necessary, important, and of the essence. I think we can now see that walking in Him is a fundamental necessity, without that we are prey for the enemy. Walking in Him is essential, critical, crucial, central, necessary, and of the essence. Walking in Him is a requirement of successful Kingdom of God living but God will not make you or I do any of His requirements. He lays them out plainly, and empowers us to do all that is required and beyond but He does not make us or cause us to do anything. He leaves us to choose life or death, blessing or curse, it is up to us.
Colossians 2:6 (AMP)
6 As you have therefore received Christ, [even] Jesus the Lord, [so] walk (regulate your lives and conduct yourselves) in union with and conformity to Him.
In the Amplified Translation of the Bible we see this idea of regulating and conducting our lives in union with Him and in conformity to Him. Before I wrap it up for today let’s take a look at a verse from Amos.
Amos 3:3 (KJV)
3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
Many people think and say they are walking with God, with Jesus but they are not in agreement with Him. This Scripture from Amos tells us quite clearly that we are not walking with anyone including God with whom we are not in agreement. It is all a façade, and we are deep in deception by the enemy and perhaps ourselves.
