ATE MANNA AND ARE DEAD
Wednesday – January 23, 2019, Sh’vat 17, 5779
Greetings dear and precious children of the Most High God, sons and daughters equipped to step into the perfect will of God. Welcome back to this powerful and revelation laden study of the Book of John. The featured picture today is of the ruins of the Church at Philadelphia. The Church today is in ruins and it is our mission, our duty to awaken, repent, arise, tear down the high places, and walk in the dominion (authority) and power (Anointing) restored to the sons and daughters of God at Calvary. Now, let us turn our attention to our primary Bible text reading it aloud and we will then dive right into the meat. We must move beyond the milk rapidly to the meat.
John 6:46-52 (KJV)
46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
48 I am that bread of life.
49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
First let us focus our attention on verse forty-nine. Jesus tells them right out flat that their forefathers did eat manna in the wilderness and they are dead. Jesus is not just telling them that they ate manna, lived out a natural life and died, no, He is talking to them of Spiritual things. Let’s listen up! Remember the Jews assembled this day had asked Jesus for a sign and they wanted something on the order of the manna provided in the wilderness to their forefathers. This manna was a form of bread, very adequate to sustain life, it was a complete food. Jesus had just fed the 5000 with a boy’s sack lunch and so they had the natural on their mind but Jesus was trying to steer them to the supernatural, things that are eternal. When we have the supernatural, the eternal, the natural has no choice but to follow suit and will be wonderful. In fairness to the Jews gathered that day they did not have the capacity to think or understand the spiritual, the supernatural, and neither do the unsaved today.

18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:22-23 (KJV)
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
Notice that the Apostle Paul many years later is talking of the Jews requiring a sign just as those Jews that day with Jesus and the Greeks try to figure it out with secular knowledge which is futile. However, the reality and power of God is clearly demonstrated in the creation (Romans 1:20). The Holy Spirit convicts when the Word comes to the lost or to bring one who is lost to the Word.
John 16:7-11 (KJV)
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
Jesus is calling, He is waiting, come unto Him today. Jesus is telling these Jews that yes, God fed them in the wilderness and it sustained their physical bodies for a season, it was a bridge for the next generation who would believe God and take the promised land. Let’s not you and I be a bridge generation but the generation that brings the fullness of God into the earth fully possessing our Promised Land. When will we believe God and take the promised land, making the promises of God a reality in our lives and to all in our path for all the world to see? The world follows after the flesh, when the world sees wealth in our lives, when they see health in our bodies, when they see families thriving, when they see the supernatural at work they will come in droves. This manna however was not the bread of life, it did not bring eternal life, these died in their sin. They did not enter into the rest of God due to unbelief (Hebrews 3:7-19). Let us not follow after their example.
