EVERLASTING LIFE
Tuesday – January 22, 2019, Sh’vat 16, 5779

Greetings and welcome back to this powerful Bible Study of the Book of John dear brothers and sister. The featured picture today is the ruins of the Church at Pergamon. Our job in this present time is to restore the Church to the original intents (will) of God which never change. We are way off the mark dear ones. We are not just one prayer away, or one tear away from an earthshaking move of God. A huge part of the Church, yes, even your Church, is waiting on God to move. Here is a news flash dear one, He has done all that is necessary to shake the world to the core and bring the Church into its rightful position of dominion. He will not and cannot do it independent of those who have the authority in the earth and that is you and me. God is waiting for you, for me, to inquire and listen intently for what He wants to do through us and do it by faith, in love, led of Holy Spirit. The ball is in our court. The Lord has a wonderful plan for each of us that is overflowing with nothing but victory but we must step into it by faith, in love, led of Holy Spirit. Our personal fate, destiny and even that of this whole nation in in our hand. What will we do? The Lord gave me this wonderful phrase years ago; Awake, Arise, and Triumph. In the interim Holy Spirit has made it clear that we must awake to the need for repentance in areas of our lives, we must arise to tear down the high places in our thoughts and beliefs, and then and only then can we go forth in triumph. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of John reading it aloud.
John 6:46-52 (KJV)
46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
48 I am that bread of life.
49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
Today I will pick up with latter part of the forty-seventh verse and the reference to “everlasting life”. The Greek word translated here as “everlasting” is more commonly translated as eternal and its base meaning is “to be perpetual” (without end). The thing referred to as perpetual, without end, is life. The other side of this coin is perpetual or everlasting death. Alternately we could substitute light for life and darkness for death. As I have pointed out many times, from the moment of conception in our mother’s womb we will exist perpetually, eternally somewhere. If Jesus is Lord and Savior that will be in Heaven or the Kingdom of God which is all of the creation excepting Hell or Lake of Fire forever. If Jesus is not Lord and Savior our only destination is Hell and the Lake of Fire when we leave this present life forever. I don’t know about you but it seems to me that Heaven is arms and legs over Hell (there is no adequate expressible comparison). The difference could not be starker. I chose everlasting life which starts with confessing Jesus as Lord and Savior. If you have never done so make Jesus Lord of your life today and forever.
Romans 10:9-11 (KJV)
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Next Jesus goes on to declare that He is that bread of life. The construction of this verse in the King James Version is quite interesting. The verse starts with “I am”. “I Am” is a reference to God. This first shows up in Genesis but is most commonly referenced with regard to the “burning bush” that was not consumed and in the Garden of Gethsemane when they come to take Him to the Cross. It is of interest that in both cases a deliverance of a captive people was about to take place.
Exodus 3:14 (KJV)
14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
John 18:4-6 (KJV)
4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?
5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.
6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
The falling back when He said the name of God “I AM” was evidence that He was willingly giving His life and no one would be taking it from Him. As I close for today let’s look at the word “bread”. It is of course a reference to physical bread but also to the spiritual bread which once eaten never leaves us hungry. Spiritual bread, Jesus, the Word, provides eternal sustenance. The bread is the Word, Jesus is that bread (John 1:1). The word “bread” also means ‘to lift up’. Quite interesting. We are lifted up from a natural life to a supernatural life! The word “life” is life as God knows life. So, the “I Am”, Jesus, is the One to life us up out of death or darkness into life or His marvelous light. Oh, how wonderful is the Word of God!
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
