Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ. Tuesday already and we are ready to move forward with our study of Colossians but first I want to remind you and me to pray for the governments of these United States. Today I am honoring the great State of Wyoming. Wyoming became the 44th state admitted to the Union on July 10, 1890 while our 23rd president Benjamin Harrison was President. Pictured you will see the Historical Governor’s Mansion in the capital of Cheyenne, a map locating Wyoming within the United States, and the Great Seal of the State of Wyoming. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) I also want to remind us all that America is a Covenant Nation with the Almighty God, the only living God. Each state was formed in Covenant with God as well as evidenced in the Constitution of Wyoming. Wyoming is the 34th most religious state meaning there are 33 states more religious than Wyoming and 16 states less religious.
CONSTITUTION of the STATE OF WYOMING
PREAMBLE
We, the people of the State of Wyoming, grateful to God for our civil, political and religious liberties, and desiring to secure them to ourselves and perpetuate them to our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution. (Bold added)
Now let us return to our study of the Book of Colossians and we will pick up with Colossians 2:7.
Colossians 2:6-7 (KJV)
6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
As we left off on Friday I was discussing the sixth verse and the fact that we receive Him (are saved, born again), Christ, by faith and therefore we walk in Him by faith.
Luke 7:50 (KJV)
50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
The word ‘saved’ here spoken by Jesus is the same word from the Greek as in the verses to follow. The Greek Word transliteration is ‘sōzō’ Greek Strong’s Number 4982 (Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary). This word can also be interpreted as to ‘make whole’, ‘heal’, or ‘be whole’. At its root this Greek word sōzō or saved, means to be safe, to save, to deliver or protect, and preserve. Before we were saved we were anything but safe, we were in the midst of the curse with no protection except for perhaps the intercessory prayers of others or God’s honoring of the righteousness of those who preceded us in our families. Remember the thief, who is the devil and his cohorts, come but to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Before salvation we were naked so to speak and on our way to hell. Now in Him we are clothed with Him and His armor and we are in the Kingdom of God (Heaven).
Ephesians 2:4-8 (KJV)
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (Bold added)
Meditate on this and I will pick up right here tomorrow. Meditate the following verse as well, all of this has to do with walking in Him by faith, which is the same way we received Him or were saved, born again.
Ephesians 3:17 (KJV)
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
