Tuesday – June 14, 2016
It is time for the Tuesday Word of God, time to proceed with all due diligence. The Holy Scripture is the “policy and procedures” manual for the Kingdom of God. Before we proceed let us all be reminded to pray for every level of government across America. Today I am honoring the State of Hawaii. Hawaii was the 50th State admitted to the Union on August 21, 1959 during the administration of our 34th President, Dwight D. Eisenhower. Take a look at the State Motto and the Preamble to the Constitution for the State of Hawaii, wow. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
State Motto – The Life of the Land is Perpetuated in Righteousness.”
PREAMBLE
We, the people of Hawaii, grateful for Divine Guidance, and mindful of our Hawaiian heritage and uniqueness as an island State, dedicate our efforts to fulfill the philosophy decreed
by the Hawaii State motto, “Ua mau ke ea o ka aina i ka pono.”
We reserve the right to control our destiny, to nurture the integrity of our people and culture, and to preserve the quality of life that we desire. We reaffirm our belief in a government of the people, by the people and for the people, and with an understanding and compassionate heart toward all the peoples of the earth, do hereby ordain and establish this constitution for the State of Hawaii. Now back to our study in the book of Colossians.
Colossians 3:1-4 (KJV)
1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
We are to be focused on what concerns Jesus, not what concerns us. In Him we once again have access even authority in Heaven and we are seated with and in Him at the right hand of Majesty on high (the Father). We were dead spiritually. We were knee deep in the curse and headed to a devils hell BUT now because of Jesus we are risen from the grip of hell and the grave, we are seated with Him, and we are alive, eternally alive in Him awaiting an incorruptible body.
1 Corinthians 15:51-54 (KJV)
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
Let’s take a moment and look forward as we think about the phrase “When Christ, who is our life, shall appear,” Christ is our life. Just as a reminder, the word Christ depending on context can mean Messiah, Anointed One, and the Anointing. Christ the Messiah came and paid the price of sin giving us liberty. Christ the Anointed One came and demonstrated how we are to function in the earth. We are not to function at a lesser level than Jesus, but as He said: we are to do greater things. And the Anointing (The Holy Spirit) was loosed legally back into the earth on the Day of Pentecost. He is also known as The Blessing bringing unlimited potential back to those who chose to be sons of God.
The life giver is the Holy Spirit and He is free to quicken or give life because of the work of the Messiah. Let me ask; who is the one who “shall appear”? The Apostle Paul is writing this epistle well after the Day of Pentecost recorded in Acts chapter two therefore we are talking about The Anointed One, Jesus. Jesus is the second person (an identifier of convenience not a notation of rank) of the Godhead, He is the Word. When Jesus catches the Church away to Heaven we will appear with Him in glory. At that time He appears only to the Church. When He returns to the earth (The Second Coming) appearing to everyone we will be with Him at that time as well.
