DARKNESS – SIN – LIGHT – CONSEQUENCES
Thursday – June 11, 2020, Sivan 19, 5780

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog where we are exploring the wonderful Book of John. The featured picture today is of Donna and me on a recent trip to Boothbay. Had a little picnic at a picnic table in the corner of the municipal parking lot. A wonderful get away day. Now, please take a moment to share these teachings each day to expand the reach of this Ministry. God is so very good dear ones. Wow, this year is speeding by, just a few more days and it is half gone. Have we redeemed (made the best use of) the time? What have we learned over the last three months during this Pandemic? How have we used the time? What has been our focus? Have we focused on the flesh or the Spirit? Has it been business as usual for us and our Church? Have either we ourselves or our Church explored how we got here and what the way out might be? Has it been a time to complain and rail against things, people, and the government? Have we used this challenge and time to perfect our patience, purge the extraneous things in our lives, and seek the Lord? Has this been a time for repentance? Has our personal and our Churches response to this pestilence been Godly? What are our plans to be ready for the next wave? Now, let’s turn our focus to our primary Bible text and read it out loud, aloud, yes, out loud.
John 16:8-12 (KJV)
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
Hump day (Wednesday) has come and gone and we are on the downhill slide into the weekend. I will pick up with Jesus’ discourse with His disciples there with Him that day and us now. He is speaking of the coming of the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, and that He will convict (reprove) the world (lost) of sin, of the need for righteousness, and of the pending judgement. No one will “get away with anything” when the final judgment day comes. Let’s take a moment to look at the word sin. According to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary to sin is to miss the mark (and so not share in the prize), to err, especially (moral) to sin, for your faults, offend, sin, or trespass. You may also hear the term that sin is a violation of light. Light is the Word of God that one knows and has revelation of, understanding of. For example, we see this in the following Scripture.
1 John 1:6-8 (KJV)
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
God, Jesus, is only Light, walks only in the light (Anointed Word of God). In order to have true fellowship with Him we must also walk in the light otherwise we are in an imaginary relationship and not walking with Him. In the passage above, darkness is walking in what we know to be sin. Of course, none of us would do that (sarcasm). If we walk in all the Truth, the light, that we know and do not violate the light (Truth) we are in fellowship with Him. When we are walking in the light (all that we know) His Blood cleanses us of any sin of which we do not yet have revelation concerning. Just looking at these synonyms, and definitions really does not convey the seriousness of sin. Sin is extraordinarily serious for saint and sinner alike. Sin has consequences, negative consequences, according to the law of seedtime and harvest. Violating light, known sin, takes down God’s protective hedge in our lives and gives the devil access to steal, kill, and destroy to some extent. There is no sin worth forfeiting God’s protection and the eternal consequences of the sin. Even though we may still go to Heaven how might it impact another, perhaps to the extent they are turned off on Christianity? It might even weaken a brother or sister in Christ to think, if they can do it, I can do it. It may appear that one is “getting away” with some unrighteousness, unholiness, but that is never the case. Dear ones, let us be holy as He is holy.
I want us all to notice that Jesus mentions one sin and one sin only in this discussion which we find in verse nine.
John 16:9 (KJV)
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
John 3:18 (KJV)
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Jesus paid the price of all sin. The only sin that keeps a person out of Heaven is that of not accepting Jesus as Lord and believing the Father raised Him from the dead. All other sin is awful and had negative consequences in this life, eternal consequences for us and others.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
