FAITH, WORKS, VICTORY – PART THREE
Wednesday – May 30, 2018, Sivan 16, 5778

Wow, isn’t the Word of God really something! It is the way, the only way to spiritual and physical victory! We turn to the left or to the right at our own peril. It is our choice. Do it God’s way and the victory is ours, it is a given, given of God. Do it our own way and the results are far less than perfect and not productive in the plan or Kingdom of God. Remember, we are still talking about faith, faith in God, and the faith of God. Nothing happens in the Kingdom of God according to the will of God that is good without that faith. Lots of things are happening for the Kingdom of God, in the mind of the doer but are peripheral (not) to the will of God. Many of these things look like good things to the body of Christ, but are man directed and are causing devastation and defeat among the peoples of God. This should not be! Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Hebrews.
Hebrews 11:30-32 (KJV)
30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.
31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.
32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
As we study this account of how God directed His people to bring about the defeat of Jericho we can apply this to the obstacles (mountains) in our own lives. In this account, testimony, God is uncovering for Joshua and us the secret to success 100% of the time. How does a 100% success rate strike you? Strikes me as very desirable. Why are we not 100% successful? I suspect every person that has read this far in this teaching has read the next passage of Scripture. This Scripture tells us how to fail and how to be successful 100% of the time. Are we slackers and unbelievers? Have we not believed and implemented these words. What if Joshua had taken the same approach we have taken to this point in time? No, I am not picking on you, I am loving you. Let’s read the following passage aloud with a determination in our heart to make every word of this our own. Read it in the first person, inserting your name.
Joshua 1:7-9 (KJV)
7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Above all else Joshua was to be strong and courageous concerning God’s Word and so are we to be strong and courageous concerning God’s Word. All of Gods’ Word! Staying with God’s Word and not turning to the right hand nor to the left hand is God’s formula for prosperity. Oh yeah, God wants you prosperous! To many preachers have told us that it is Godly to be poor and then they want a big offering. Am I the only one that sees a glaring and obvious flaw in that teaching? God tells Joshua that the Holy Scriptures are not to depart from his mouth. I do not believe this means that we are to be quoting Scripture all day but it does mean that whatever comes out of our mouth is never to be contrary to Scripture. Joshua had the five books of Moses we have all 66 Books. What is wrong with us? A lack of diligence, seriousness, and reverence concerning the Word of God.
Focus in on verse eight, eight is the number of new beginnings. Are you hungry for a new beginning? If the answer is yes, then listen up and do. God says that if we will do all that is written in the Word of God we will be prosperous and have good success. Furthermore, notice that it is not God making our way prosperous and successful, it is we ourselves that make our way prosperous by implementing the Word of God and doing the Word of God. Prophesy the Word of God into your life, doubt not, believe you have received (take it), and it shall be done for you. Same thing with this account of Jericho and the general universal way of prosperity and all kinds of success in the Kingdom of God. When God talks about prosperity, He is not only talking of some sort of spiritual prosperity afar off in the ‘sweet by and by’ or ‘over there’ but right here in the earth.
As we finish for today and turn our attention to verse nine we find God repeating verse seven but with three vital additions. Lord willing, I will pick up our study right here tomorrow. Until our next publication, I speak this Scriptural prayer for your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
3 John 1:2 (AMP)
2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers.
