FOLLOW ME

Greetings dear friends and partners of this Ministry and welcome back to our powerful and detailed Bible Study of the Book of John. Our God is so wonderfully good to give us His Word in detail and with precision to guide our lives in this world into all the abundance He came and restored for those who will receive, believe, and do. It is not the will of God for anyone (zero people) to perish in finances or in their bodies or any other area of this life. The quality and quantity of this life and in eternity is the direct result of what we do with the Word of God, our response to the Word of God. The Truth, not a corruption of the Word. The way we know if it is uncorrupted or not is to get into the Book (Bible) and study diligently separating Truth from fiction. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text by reading it aloud.
John 13:33-38 (KJV)
33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
36 Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.
37 Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.
38 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice.
As you will recall we are in the last twenty-four hours of the earthly ministry of Jesus, God become flesh, an Anointed man without sin to redeem all who will receive Him. We have been studying the events of the “Last Supper” specifically the washing of the feet of the disciples. We learned that this act was not just an act of humility. It was a demonstration that His beautiful feet which have been taking the gospel will now be their beautiful feet washed by Jesus, the Word, taking the gospel into all the world. It may be beneficial to go back and review the days when these things were covered in some detail. We also discussed the glorification of the Son of man, and the glorification of the Father. The glory of God is the manifested goodness of God that is observable to all. The apex of that glory is the Christ!
As we move forward, we find that verses thirty-three and thirty-six are connected. First Jesus tells the disciples that where He is going, they cannot come, at least not right now. Then He goes ahead and says that they will follow Him later. Jesus following the Cross and the Resurrection is ascending to the right hand of the Father fully restored as God. In Heaven today He is fully man with a glorified immortal body functioning as our High Priest and our Advocate. Today Jesus is also fully God with all the attributes of God functions as King of kings, as our Lord (One highest in authority). All three co-equal persons of God, (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) are a Spirit functioning as God.
John 4:23-24 (KJV)
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (Bold added by Dr. Wood)
Our flesh does not want to worship God but our spirit cries out for God. We today as He did that day have a mortal body. His spirit man was uncorrupted however our spirit man is corrupted by the ways of the world and sin which had given the curse a foothold in one fashion or another. We were born dead men, Jesus was not. Remember, what Jesus had to say about the reason He was come into the world. He came to destroy the works of the devil and here is the result. This is a potential result for each of us, it does not just drop on us at the salvation alter.
John 10:10 (KJV)
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Through repentance and the transforming of our mind we can change our thoughts, our words, and our actions to be as His are changing the ravages of the curse in our lives in a positive direction. We are not to die young, broke, and sick, period. All of the Old Covenant saints (believers who practiced Covenant) were not saved (dead spirit man) but by faith could reach into our time and beyond for the wonderful things of God. They were not capable of being led of the Holy Spirit for the most part. Generally speaking, only the Priest, the Prophet, and the King had the Anointing of God upon them, not in them, and even then, were dead (spiritually) men. As dead men they could not go to Heaven but instead by the mercy of God were preserved in the Bosom of Abraham until the Christ (Messiah) could come. Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.

Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
