FROM THE PROPHETS CHAMBER
DO ALL HIS COMMANDMENTS – PART TWENTY-THREE
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to From the Prophets Chamber and the topic Do All His Commands. It is my hope that this study will consolidate the idea that we cannot go overboard in our walk with the Lord. There is no such thing as being too obedient to the Word. People say things sometimes like; “they are so Heavenly minded they are no earthly good”. I think we know what they mean, however if the person being referenced is indeed Heavenly (Kingdom of God) minded, they will be Gods’ powerhouse in the earth. We cannot be too focused on the Kingdom of God and His way of doing things. In the end a good number of the things we thought were just so important will cost us at the Judgment. Those things and only those things for the Kingdom of God will profit us. That is not to say we can’t go on vacation or do other “fun” things. It does mean that we are not to be one place when we were supposed to be another. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. As we turn to our primary Bible text remember the Blessing is the empowerment from God, the Anointing, to prosper in every area of life. That is both spiritual and physical prosperity. You may have heard the song with words that go something like this: “I’d rather have Jesus than silver and gold or a vast domain”, that is a false choice. When you have Jesus, you can have as much silver and gold as you will step into, it is yours. It is the will of God that we have both! However, it is not automatic because you got saved and walk the earth. Please continue reading out loud.
Deuteronomy 28:1 (KJV)
1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
As I have mentioned many times, verse one above is the prerequisite for seeing any blessings from God. We have just studied our way down through eleven (three – thirteen) verses all of which were blessing of the Lord and not one curse mixed in! Strict obedience to the Word with the right attitude (heart) will not allow one bit of the curse into our life. Now we will be shifting our attention directly to what allows, in fact invites the curse into our lives. Let’s pick up, focusing on verse fourteen.
Deuteronomy 28:13-15 (KJV)
13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
Going aside from any of the Words of God is a going aside to other gods to serve them! This is serious business dear ones. One might exclaim; “I’m not serving other gods!” Really? Go back to verse one and read down through verse thirteen. Is that your life or are you living another life? I have to ask myself the same thing. Is this all just interesting information or is it to be the reality of our lives? Maybe it is all spiritual, none of it is for here, just for the sweet bye and bye. Really? Flush the religion devils and step into the light. As we examine verse fifteen of our text along with verse fourteen what brings the curse into our lives instead of the blessing? Disobedience! Okay, again back to self-examination. Is any of the curse present in our lives? If so, where is the open door? Yes, a door, and perhaps many doors, are open. God is not testing you nor is it your “cross to bear” the devil is going as far as he can to steal, kill, and destroy in your life! Let’s take just a brief look at the cost of serving other gods.
Deuteronomy 28:16-20 (KJV)
16 Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.
17 Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.
18 Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
19 Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
20 The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.
Descriptions of the curse goes on through verse sixty-eight of this chapter. Read it all, see how much of it you want. I can assure you; you don’t want any of it. Is disobedience still attractive to you? The reasons any of us are mired in the curse is due to slackness coupled with lust of the flesh, lust of the eye, and pride of life. Slackness is the opposite of a relentless pursuit of Truth followed by obedience to that Truth. Remember, it is possible to be obedient but not be willing, having a heart and trust for God.
