GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT – PART SIXTEEN
Greetings and welcome to all who join this blog, the Friday Bible Study titled “Gifts”. I am currently focused on the nine gifts of the Spirit (Holy Spirit). We trust that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day with our Lord as the focus along with family and good food. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to expand the reach of this Ministry and the Truth. This is a powerful study, come expecting to hear from the Lord, receive from the Lord, but more importantly be a conduit for the Lord’s use. Now let’s prepare to dive into our study of gifts from God, specifically the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. These gifts of the Holy Spirit convey a supernatural ability. Now, let’s turn our attention to the Apostle Paul’s discussion of these gifts by the unction of the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:1 (KJV)
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
1 Corinthians 12:4-11 (KJV)
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
Last week I ended with a discussion of the gift of tongues and the prayer language (tongues) received at the time of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It is important to distinguish between the two. The capacity to speak in tongues at the time of our Baptism in the Holy Spirit and following is a gift received at our will. The Holy Spirit gift of tongues is activated or manifests at His will. All persons baptized in the Holy Spirit will have the evidence of speaking in tongues. At that same time, we will receive one or more of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. Just a little more on the tongues that are imparted of the Holy Spirit at the time of our Baptism in the Holy Spirit. This is an extraordinarily important capacity for the believer to have. This is not necessary for one to go to Heaven but it strengthens our prayer life immeasurably. Let’s take a moment to look at two verses that confirm this.
Romans 8:26 (KJV)
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
It is important that all of our English (or whatever your native language might be) prayers are fully bathed in our prayer language (tongues). As the preceding verse explains, when we don’t know what to pray, the Holy Spirit Himself will make intercession through us. Don’t you think the Holy Spirit knows the perfect will of God? Sometimes we think we know what a person or situation needs but we may be wrong, however, I can assure you that the Holy Spirit will hit the nail on the head.
Let me clarify something that is very important. Many people believe, and are therefore hindered in receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, that the Holy Spirit just takes over and we have no control. That is very wrong and in fact that is not correct concerning any interaction we have with God. God does not make us do anything, the devils can’t make us do anything (saved or not), and neither can other people make us do something. We are directed by God either by Scripture or the inner witness (which will not violate Scripture) and we choose to obey or not. The devils seek to deceive us and push us into disobedience in various ways, we have to choose their voice or not like Eve in the Garden. God will speak to us directly (the Christians quickened spirit man) or through other people to bring us light. The devils will speak to us directly or through other people to bring us darkness. Let’s go back to the Day of Pentecost and examine a verse.
Acts 2:4 (KJV)
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Notice that when they were filled, just as when we are filled, they (the individuals) began to speak with other than a learned language as the Holy Spirit gave them the words to speak. It is a little like taking dictation or being a scribe. The Holy Spirit speaks to us and in our yieldedness we speak what He gave us to speak to the Father.

2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
