SWORD OF THE SPIRIT – PART SEVEN
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and thank you for rejoining The Three Minute Word blog. Please take a moment and share this teachings by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. As you know I have been teaching of the “Gifts” of God for some one hundred and forty weeks counting today and eighty-two weeks counting today on the “Armor of God”. As I said on the 1st of July, I thought I was done with the sword of the Spirit but the Lord let me know I was not done. Since the “sword of the Spirit” is the Word of God, which is the whole Bible, I suppose one could go for a lifetime and not exhaust the topic. So, let’s take a moment and review our primary Bible text. By the way, there is no maximum on the number of times one should read any portion of Scripture. There is always more for the Holy Spirit to reveal to the ones with ears to hear. Do you, do I have ears to hear? Be reminded to be reading out loud with ears to hear. You know why! Without faith we cannot be an overcomer (1 John 5:4) and it is impossible to please God without faith (Hebrews 11:6).
Ephesians 6:10-18 (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Today the Lord through me is reminding people that the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, is a two-edged sword. One edge is the Blessing and one edge is the curse. Which edge have you, have I chosen? Yes, we choose. I know that we all think we have chosen the blessing but what fruit is manifesting in our lives? There are a few places where the Word of God is explicitly described as a two-edged and many other places it is explicitly shown.
Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
This is the importance of reading the Word (out loud) and studying the Word in some depth. This two-edged sword, the Word of God, helps us to clearly see what is right and what is wrong in us. We get to see ourselves and make corrections (confession, repentance, cleansing) to become more like Jesus.
Revelation 1:16 (KJV)
16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
This of course is the Lord Jesus who is the Word of God. He is a discerner in each of our lives of our thoughts and intents whether they be good or bad. Now, let’s look at how this works.
Job 36:11-12 (KJV)
11 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.
Obeying and serving, the blessing side of the sword, brings prosperity and years of pleasures. On the other edge we find the curse due to our choice to be disobedient. We also see at least in part that this perishing has to do with laziness with the failure to gather knowledge of the Lord.
Isaiah 1:19-20 (KJV)
19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
Again, we see that the blessing edge of the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, comes with our willingness and obedience. The bless brings our eating the good of the land. That is not just us four and no more, this is abundance, the best foods, the best homes, the best cars, and so on. On the other edge is the curse when we refuse and rebel against the Word of God. We are devoured. That is not the will of God, we chose. Let us examine the fruits of our lives and judge ourselves.

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
