GIFTS – PART ONE HUNDRED-FORTY-FOUR
ARMOR OF GOD – PART EIGHTY-SIX
PRAYING ALWAYS – PART FOUR

Greetings dear and precious saints of the only Living God. The One who wants nothing but good for all peoples and has paid the price for abundant and eternal life for all. Unfortunately, many, the majority on the earth, chose to reject our good and loving God to serve lifeless idols and themselves. Thinking they are wise have become fools (Romans 1:20-22). Before moving into our primary lesson, I invite you to please take a moment and share this teaching by every means available to you thereby expanding our reach with the Truth. Thank you for sharing. The Lord sees and rewards.
I have been teaching for quite some time on the “Gifts”, we, the children of God, receive of our loving (agape/agapeo) Heavenly Father God. The Apostle Paul by the will of God, the Holy Spirit, has named seven pieces or aspects of this armor which is defensive and offensive. This is far, far more than imaginary pieces of Roman armor but bodies of revelation knowledge that we exercise by faith, in love, absent doubt, in the name of Jesus, led of the Holy Spirit. This armor has no match, not even close.
Ephesians 6:10-13 (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Ephesians 6:14-18 (KJV)
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Verse eighteen introduces us to the seventh piece of the armor of God which is prayer. Seven is the number of spiritual completion. Notice He separates prayer and supplication. Now, I will focus on our primary text, verse eighteen. First, let’s look at verse eighteen in another translation of the Bible.
Ephesians 6:18 (AMP)
18 Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).
We see here that the praying always and in the Spirit are closely and inseparably connected. To be inseparable means they are unable to be separated or treated separately. I pointed out last Friday that we are always to pray (in whatever form) as led of the Holy Spirit and in this specific case in the Spirit using our prayer language received as evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. In this way we can know without a doubt that we are praying the perfect will of God (Romans 8:26-27), not our heartfelt wishes.
I want to point out an interesting aspect of the phrase “praying always” in the King James Version. The word translated as “always” is the word more commonly translated as “in”. The word “in” has the meaning of instrumentality or the instrument by which a thing happens. For example, we say “in the name of Jesus”. That name, Jesus, is the instrument (triggering authority) that activates or brings supernatural (Holy Spirit) action. In this case we see that our prayer in the Holy Spirit (tongues) is the activating step, the instrument, to bring a change supernaturally. Prayer is discourse with God and may include the asking for something, most commonly direction. Supplication is the presenting of a petition, a request, before God. This would include presenting the problem, the solution from Scripture, and our decree upon which the Lord will act.
This concludes our discussion of Gifts and this part of that teaching, the Armor of God. Until next Friday remember that we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
