GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT – PART NINE
Greetings and welcome to all who join this blog, the Friday Bible Study titled “Gifts” and currently focused on the nine gifts of the Spirit (Holy Spirit). Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to expand the reach of this Ministry and the Truth. As we prepare to move into our study of “Gifts” I am going to ask a question I have asked before in one way or another. Is our land, our community, our State, our Nation healed? Why not? The following Scripture always brings some degree of eyerolling and other negative behaviors, but is it possible that it is the route to healing? Could it be that God is right?
2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
It is not the will of God that anyone, not one more person, perish from COVID-19 or any other part of the curse.
2 Peter 3:9 (KJV)
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (Bold added)
There is that word ‘repentance’ again. So why are people perishing, saint and sinner alike?
2 Timothy 2:25-26 (KJV)
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Now, let’s dive into our study of a gift or gifts from God and now specifically the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. The word ‘gift’ can be a verb or a noun. The verb form is action and is to give. From God’s point of view, He gives us these gifts. He gives them to us willingly for which we do not pay for in any way and in fact have nothing that would be sufficient for purchase. God is the giver of these gifts and we are the recipients. The word ‘gift’ as the recipient is in the noun form. A gift can be a talent, skill, or ability and is a present, or something granted. In the case of the gifts of the Spirit it is a gifting which conveys a supernatural ability. Now, let’s turn our attention to the Apostle Paul’s discussion of these gifts as he is moved by the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:1 (KJV)
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
I choose right now not to be an ignorant brother.
1 Corinthians 12:7-11 (KJV)
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
Last Friday I left off speaking about the special gift of faith. This special faith is an unction of the Holy Spirit that comes upon or up in a person (probably both) for a limited time for a specific purpose. These nine gifts are as the Spirit choses, are present with each of us at all times, and function as the Spirit chooses. In verse nine of our text above we find healing as one of the gifts of the Spirit. Like faith this is a special limited dispensation of the Power of God to effect one or more healings at a particular time for the benefit of one or more persons in the body of Christ. This is necessary especially when the local or larger congregation remains immature as a whole meaning that one or more persons (believers) have not developed their faith for healing as Jesus commanded.
Mark 16:16-18 (KJV)
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. (Bold added)
Are you a believer, am I a believer?
John 14:12 (KJV)
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Do you believe on Jesus, do I believe on Jesus?
Joshua 18:3 (KJV)
3 And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?
How long will we be slack in possessing the things freely given to us all, believers? Lord willing, I will pick up right here in two weeks, next Friday I will be teaching about the Feast of Tabernacles.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
