GIVEN THEE FROM ABOVE

Greetings dear and wonderful saints of the Most High God. Welcome back to this illuminating and powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. Please take a few moments and share the teaching today to further the spread of the gospel, the Truth beyond the current reach of this Ministry. The featured picture today is of Donna and me at Quill Hill this past summer. It is a favorite of mine. We were enjoying our time together and the tremendous view from that location. Also, the picture represents us looking into a God designed and planned future of abundant productivity for the Kingdom of God.
Jeremiah 29:10 (NLT)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
12 In those days when you pray, I will listen.
13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
14 I will be found by you,” says the LORD. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.”
Let us all rejoice in the abundant overflowing goodness of our God to all of His children who chose His ways and walk uprightly before Him. When the Lord gave me the following promise, I wondered how can it be but He has made good on His Word.
Haggai 2:9 (KJV)
9 The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.
If you find yourself in a desert place take a hold of these Scriptures, make them yours, they are for all who will believe.
Now, let’s turn our attention back to our study of the Book of John and our primary text. Let’s read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 19:7-11 (KJV)
7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
8 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;
9 And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.
10 Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?
11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.
In our study we find ourselves and Jesus just moments from being nailed to the Cross on Golgotha’s hill. We are in the midst of Jesus being interrogated and the subject of very cruel treatment by Pilate, the Roman Governor. We saw in verse nine above that Jesus did not respond to Pilate and I suspect that ticked Pilate off. Keep in mind this was not a democratic republic with checks and balances, Pilate welded absolute power. We see some of that frustration in manifestation as we enter verse ten. He tells Jesus, don’t you know that your life is in my hands? That our life, our future is in someone else’s hand other than our own is a gigantic lie of the demons. Our future and our death are in our hand, it is all about our choice of thoughts and words. Jesus said that He would lay down His life and take it up again.
John 10:17-18 (KJV)
17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
In verse eleven of our primary text Jesus tells Pilate that He could have no power except it be granted or given from above. This must have ticked off Pilate even more. Then Jesus makes an interesting statement. “He that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.” He does not absolve Pilate of his part in this but points out that Judas and the ruling Jewish religious leaders bare the greater sin. Back to all power (authority) being from God.
Romans 13:1-2 (KJV)
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
Our civil government and its authority are of God. Except where the government (laws) are crossways the Scripture we are to obey. When we do not obey, we are then also crossways God. A far more serious issue. Notice the connection of the preceding and following passages? When we are in disobedience to the laws of the land, like them or not, we are in disobedience to God, which is sin and opens the door to Satan for stealing, killing, and destroying. Notice the word “damnation” in the preceding and following passage.
1 Corinthians 11:26-30 (KJV)
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
Something to think about and take seriously dear ones. Tomorrow is a special edition of The Three Minute Word, we will pick up our study of the Book of John next week, Lord willing.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
