My goodness, Friday already. Greeting from Eastern Gate Ministries International and The Three Minute Word publications. God is so very good. I left off yesterday revisiting “the hope of his calling” and I believe we now all understand that all of the promises of God are the hope of His calling, He calls us into all of His goodness, the glory (goodness) of the Kingdom of God, which is unmeasurable with infinite potential. Today I will pick up with verse nineteen.
Ephesians 1:18-19 (KJV)
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
As we are diligent to study to show ourselves approved of Him by increasing in the knowledge of Him many wonderful things follow. We come to have increasing understanding of “the hope of His calling” and “the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints”. We will also start to understand “the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward”. Let’s look at verses nineteen and twenty in a different translation of the Scripture, I believe it straightens out some of the awkwardness of the King James.
Ephesians 1:19-20 (HCSB)
19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power to us who believe, according to the working of His vast strength.
20 He demonstrated this ⌊power⌋ in the Messiah by raising Him from the dead and seating Him at His right hand in the heavens—
The same power, the same amount of power, which raised Christ from the dead and seated Jesus, the Messiah, at the right hand of Majesty on High is the same amount of power available to us. Notice that is power is only available to those who believe. Believe what? Believe that this power is available to them personally. As we go through each part of the Apostle Paul’s prayer for the folks at Ephesians we must understand that it has direct application in our lives that starts with our exercising diligence to increase our workable knowledge of Him. Now, back to this immeasurable power.
The word ‘believe’ in our text is a derivation of the word of ‘faith’. So we could accurately say that this unlimited, immeasurable power of God is available only to those who have the faith of God or faith in God. There is nothing that cannot be accomplished by the faith of God. The origin of our faith is God. Contemplate and receive the Words of Jesus.
Mark 11:22-26 (KJV)
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
The first command, the first criteria to moving any mountain is to have faith in God. Faith is to believe, have reliance upon, be persuaded, and be assured of the faithfulness of God, that if we will believe what He has said He will perform it. As we end for today let’s take a look at Abraham.
Romans 4:20-22 (KJV)
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
Abraham believed God for Isaac who was the son of promise. Just as Isaac was a son of promise for Abraham and all the Hebrew people, so was Jesus to all mankind. Abraham was “fully persuaded”. I think we have to ask ourselves if we are fully persuaded, do we believe it way down in our core, do we believe it is impossible for anything else to occur. This kind of belief, faith, puts us in a place of right standing, righteousness, anything less takes us out of right standing and the promise will not be performed in our life. What must we do then? Seek the knowledge of God asking all the while for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to enlighten our understanding. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. The more Word the more unshakeable our faith becomes. We are looking to His purposes (love) and the enlarging of the Kingdom of God.
Romans 10:17 (KJV)
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
How badly do we want His will to be done and how badly do we want our will to be done, which one is winning?
Revelation 3:20-22 (KJV)
20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
