THE GREATER THINGS – PART SIX
Greetings to our precious friends and partners and welcome back to this engaging Sunday Bible Study of “The Greater Things”. The featured picture depicts a city in ruin. As you know I have and will again today talk about our responsibility as believers to repair the waste cities. Please take a moment right now, yes, now, to share this teaching to expand the reach of this Ministry and the reach of the Truth. The Truth is critical for all of us, our life now, and for eternity.
John 8:31-32 (KJV)
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Free from what? The curse!
Galatians 3:13 (AMP)
13 Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified);
Now, let’s return and focus on our main subject matter.
John 14:12 (KJV)
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (Bold added)
You will notice that this is a command and it is aimed at all who believe upon Christ Jesus, all that are born again, saved. So, how are we doing with this? This teaching is focused towards the greater things (works) but we are presently reviewing the works Jesus did on our way there. Seems to me from context and common sense that we have to do the first works before doing the second. So, let’s turn to Isaiah sixty-one.
Isaiah 61:1-2 (AMP)
1 THE SPIRIT of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound,
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord [the year of His favor] and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,
As Anointed sons and daughters of the Lord God we are qualified by the will and enablement of God to do some absolutely wonderful, Heavenly, things. All of these things (works) require the Anointing to be effective. That is, to be effective on the level necessary to accomplish all of the will of God and usher in the Catching Away. Whether one participates in the works Jesus did and/or the greater works depends on maturity.
Galatians 4:1-2 (KJV)
1 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
A child of God operating in spiritual (and physical) things is given greater responsibilities as he/she demonstrates the maturity, the capacity to reliably accomplish God’s assignments. One must have the maturity to handle the assigned authority and Power as would the Father, or Jesus. Maturity in the Kingdom of God is measured by our level of faith, love (agape), and sensitivity to and obedience to the leadership of the Holy Spirit. Glance back at Isaiah 61:1. What would be good news the meek, the poor, and afflicted? For the meek which are the humble, those with open ears and hearts to do the will of God, it would be that there is a higher plain. For the poor, good news or good tidings would be that, you don’t need to be poor no more. This is not just financial lack but every kind of lack. Jesus did not come for us to be poor and just be scraping by. If you have a religious devil or poverty devil cast it out now.
John 10:10 (KJV)
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Jesus isn’t talking about just a little more than you need, but a great deal more, enough to sustain not only our children but our grandchildren for a lifetime. Yes, yes, yes, that is our Lord!
2 Corinthians 8:9 (KJV)
9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
This is speaking to us in the spiritual and the physical! It is the will of God for all to prosper spiritually meaning we are doing the works Jesus did plus the greater works and that we be really wealthy in the earth.
2 Corinthians 9:8 (AMP)
8 And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].
Lord willing, I will pick up right here in two weeks, next Sunday is the eve of the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur).
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
