I SPEAK WHAT THE FATHER SPEAKS
Wednesday – January 15, 2020, Tevet 18, 5780

Greetings to our wonderful and precious friends and partners of this Ministry and blog. Welcome back to this powerful and course correcting Bible Study of the Book of John. If you are reading this on Facebook please take a moment to hit the “love” and “share” buttons to encourage us and spread the good news. The picture today was taken after a fresh snow and much of the snow remained on the trees giving us a beautiful winter scene. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and read it aloud. Yes, read it aloud! How does faith come? Do we need faith? Are we to live by faith? In case you are struggling, faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17), and, yes, we need faith (Hebrews 11:6), we cannot please God without it, and yes, faith is to be a lifestyle (Romans 1:17). Now, let’s read this text aloud.
John 14:23-25 (KJV)
23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
As we pick up with verse twenty-three today you may remember that I had previously made the point that when one truly lives with another there is evidence of their presence. When we are saved, born again, the Holy Spirit quickens our spirit man and we are alive to God. And He, the Holy Spirit, will abide (live in us) from then and forever. However, if we do not continue to walk in obedience to the Word of God people will not see evidence that anyone is with us, living with us. Our first obedience was to the Word for salvation. The salvation package is very large, likely beyond our current comprehension, but all of its benefits are acquired by the discharge of obligations (by faith, in love, led of the Holy Spirit).
As we move forward, our Lord unequivocally tells those listening that day, and us this day, that when we do not obey, we do not love (agape) Him. One can sing that they love the Lord until the cows come home but if that one is ignoring the Word, the commandments of the Word, they are not in love with the Lord, period. That is not according to David Wood but the Master. Then once again we see a familiar refrain from Jesus, that He is not speaking of Himself but of the Father. What about us? Now, let’s remind ourselves as to what agape (love) is. Agape (love) is the God kind of love of which we are fully capable since we are in His image and likeness, we are of like kind, we are in the god class of being. We are not in the angel class or any other as yet unknown class of being but we are in the god class. We are not Gods capital G but we are gods lower case g according to Psalm 82 and Jesus (John 10:35). Jesus has told us several times He does not speak of Himself but what the Father says and the Father (by agency of the Holy Spirit) does the works.
John 14:10 (KJV)
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
Remember, the following command given by the Master (Jesus) Himself. If that is the way He did it, that is the way we are to do it.
John 14:12 (KJV)
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Let’s look at our primary Bible passage in a different translation.
John 14:22-24 (TLB)
22 Judas (not Judas Iscariot, but his other disciple with that name) said to him, “Sir, why are you going to reveal yourself only to us disciples and not to the world at large?”
23 Jesus replied, “Because I will only reveal myself to those who love me and obey me. The Father will love them too, and we will come to them and live with them.
24 Anyone who doesn’t obey me doesn’t love me. And remember, I am not making up this answer to your question! It is the answer given by the Father who sent me.
This adds some clarity. Jesus says I only reveal myself, give insights into the Word, to those who love me. Do we answer as the Father gives us utterance by way of the Holy Spirit? Should we follow the words written by James in obedience to the unction of the Holy Spirit to be quick to hear but slow to speak?
James 1:19 (KJV)
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
