I WILL RAISE YOU UP
Wednesday – January 16, 2019, Sh’vat 10, 5779

Greetings and welcome back to this wonderfully powerful Bible Study of the Book of John. Again, a winter scene, this is what real winter looks like for readers from points south. If you live in the north and all you know how to do is murmur about cold and snow then move to points south. Dear friends, it is all about focus and attitude. Please don’t forget to hit the “like” and “share” buttons if you are getting this on Facebook. Remember when you share it extends the reach of this ministry considerably. Now, let’s go to our primary Bible text and read it aloud.
John 6:42-47 (KJV)
42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?
43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
Yesterday I left off with verse forty-four and so I will pick up there today. I will bring our attention to the phrase, “I will raise him up at the last day”. This phrase “the last day” appears only in the Book of John with one exception in an entirely different context. So, let’s look at a couple of references that may help us determine when “the last day” might be.
John 11:23-25 (KJV)
23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
John 12:48 (KJV)
48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
Notice in the John 11 reference Jesus is referring to Lazarus who was serving God and in the John 12 reference He is referring to someone who has rejected God (Jesus, the Word). The “last day” for each of these is different. First the “last day” for the lost person from the day of Adam until now is the White Throne Judgment referenced in the following passage.
Revelation 20:11-15 (KJV)
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Now, keep in mind these folks have been in Hell all along, the White Throne Judgment is for final sentencing so to speak. You might liken it to a lawbreaker who is in jail for a period of time after their conviction and then go to prison (different facility) at sentencing. The “last day” for the saint on the other hand comes in three stages or waves which I have discussed before. For the Old Testament saints who were captive in the Bosom of Abraham awaiting the coming of Messiah their “last day” was the day Jesus was resurrected and led captivity captive to Heaven. This is the first wave of the First Resurrection. The second wave of the First Resurrection is the one you and I will be going in at the Rapture or Catching Away. The third wave of the First Resurrection occurs when those who were saved during the Tribulation are resurrected. Keep in mind that being raised from the dead like Lazarus and being resurrected are far different events. Lazarus was raised from the dead and would die again and awaits resurrection to this day although his spirit man is in Heaven. When one is resurrected like the Old Testament saints, they are whole persons spirit, soul, and glorified body. It is Jesus that raises us up.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (KJV)
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Oh, what a day that will be dear saints!!
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
