IN MY NAME
Tuesday – July 11, 2017

Greetings and blessing from Patti and me at The Three Minute Word publication and welcome back to our Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews. God is so good. Before we dive back into our primary and then the secondary text of our study let us all be reminded to pray (decree) for our nation, for government at every level.
Hebrews 2:4 (KJV)
4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
When we walk by faith (the faith of God), in love (obedient to the Word) and led of the Holy Spirit, God Himself will confirm His Anointed Word with signs and wonders, miracles, and demonstrations of the gifts of the Spirit. This is what should be the usual in our lives. Now let’s get back to our secondary text in the Book of Mark.
Mark 16:15-20 (KJV)
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
As I have noted before the signs that follow the believer are not a hit and miss kind of thing, but should be a certainty. As we think about this and what is going on in our individual lives we must come to certain corrective actions to allow this in our lives. As we study Mark 16:17 we find that the name of Jesus is the lynch pin, it does not happen in our name or any other name but the name of Jesus. We operate in the authority and Power of God in the name of Jesus, the One who purchased us by His own precious Blood. Immediately on the Day of Pentecost we see the authority and Power of the name of Jesus.
Acts 2:38, 41-43 (KJV)
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
…
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
Now let’s look at a miracle not long after that establishes the point I am making; the Scripture is making.
Acts 3:1-6 (KJV)
1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
When will this become the norm for the Church, individual believers in their everyday lives? When we believe! Back to Mark 16:17 our text goes on to say that the believer in the name of Jesus will cast out devils and speak in tongues. Both of these require the baptism of the Holy Spirit. A person can be born again and go to Heaven without the baptism of the Holy Spirit but there will be no power in their lives. Unfortunately, we see persons today who are born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues who are also operating with no evidence of Power in their lives. Where is our faith? This is not funny and God will not excuse. As I end let’s look at an episode in the ministry of Jesus.
Luke 8:22-25 (KJV)
22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.
23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.
24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.
Jesus told them they were going to the other side and then He takes a nap. In the midst of the trip a really bad storm arises and they believe they are in great peril. He has mercy and rebukes the storm then He asks them; “Where is your faith?” They knew the will of God was to go to the other side, Jesus was with them, yet they only contended with the storm on a natural level which was inadequate. There are many times we know the will of God, we know He is with us, yet we succumb to the storms of the enemy. We allow the deception in and we perish. Where is our faith? They could command the storm in the name of Jesus just as He did and could have had the same result and not even had to wake Him. They deferred to Him when He had given to them all the necessary tools. Today, we would perish. Jesus was physically with them in the boat so in order for Him to accomplish the will of the Father He would exercise His authority. The obedience, the faith of one man saved them all. We see this when Paul was shipwrecked and not only was he saved alive but the whole crew. The same is true today, you may be the voice of faith in some sort of storm and save the lives of many. In the name of Jesus, we calm the storms in our lives and we can even move mountains.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
