IT IS FINISHED

Greetings to all who have come to this blog and welcome to this Holy Spirit directed Bible Study of the Book of John. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as you possibly can to expand our reach, to expand the reach of the Truth. The featured picture today is courtesy of a wonderful Ministry friend, Joe Getchell Jr. We all seem to act and think like the status quo is what we will have forever. Not so dear ones. Let us seek every day to redeem (make the best use of our time) our time.
Ephesians 5:15-17 (AMP)
15 Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),
16 Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.
17 Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.
This life will soon be over whether Jesus comes in our lifetime or not and after that the judgment. Have you, have I, given any thought to the coming judgment?
2 Corinthians 5:10 (ESV)
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.
Now, let’s focus our attention upon our primary text and read it aloud, yes, out loud.
John 17:4-6 (KJV)
4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
As you are aware, our text, this whole discourse principally from the mouth of Jesus is several chapters long. These Truths are being uttered for them and us and is occurring just a few hours (literally) before Jesus surrenders to the Cross and all that follows. The very presence of the second person of the Triune Co-equal God as a man shows the surpassing goodness (glory) of God for eternity. Jesus tells His Father, and now our Father, in the second half (b portion) of the fourth verse that He has finished the work He was given to do by the Father. Has He finished? The several Bible translations I reviewed put this as past tense or something already accomplished. But is it? He has not gone to the Cross and done all the work that followed. How can it be finished? Glad you asked. In the spirit realm unlike the natural realm, time and distance are irrelevant terms or ideas. In the spirit realm, by faith things that are not yet manifest in the physical realm are declared as done. We were taught this by our Heavenly Father as well as Jesus and others.
Romans 4:16-17 (KJV)
16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
Where is it written?
Genesis 17:5 (KJV)
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
Faith calls those things which be not (currently) as though they already are present. We must decree the thing. In the mind of Jesus, the work of redemption was finished.
Revelation 13:8 (KJV)
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. (Bold added)
The physical slaying of the Lamb would not occur for millennia but in the spirit by a faith declaration it was done. Listen to Jesus just a few hours later on the Cross.
John 19:30 (KJV)
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
It still was not completed but again Jesus makes the faith statement, it is finished. And so, it is and now we are walking in the benefit of His love (agape) and faith.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. I want to take a moment as I have ended this teaching to remind everyone to prepare for the November elections. Know the platforms of the two parties. Get voter guides from good Christian sources. The choices this time are as stark as at any time in our lifetimes between light and dark, good and evil. Choose the light of Scripture and God’s Word concerning what is good.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
