LIGHT AND DARKNESS
Thursday – October 25, 2018, Cheshvan 16, 5779

Greetings partners and friends and welcome back to this wonderful Bible Study of the Book of John. God is so very good! The featured picture is from a game camera on the ranch and as you can see the turkey are strutting their stuff. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary text and read it aloud.
John 3:19-21 (KJV)
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Light (Word of God) makes things manifest and darkness keeps things obscure. Jesus makes it clear in verse nineteen that it is our choice to walk in the light or to walk in the darkness. Let’s look at the nineteenth verse in the Passion Translation.
John 3:19 (PassionNTPsa)
19 And here is the basis for their judgment: The Light of God has now come into the world, but the hearts of people love their darkness more than the Light, because they want the darkness to conceal their evil.
An interesting thing about the word “loved” in verse nineteen is that it is the word ‘agape’ indicating a commitment to evil that is as strong as our commitment to good (Word of God) should be. They love the darkness because their evil is okay in the darkness, everyone is doing it and so on. The Passion Translation makes it very clear that this is a judgment the individual makes; the devil did not make them do it. As we move into verse twenty we find that those in darkness hate the light because they do not want to be reproved or convicted by Holy Spirit.
John 16:8 (KJV)
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
I recall as a sinner I really did not want much interaction with Church or Christians because I did not want to be reminded that what I was doing was contrary to God. I knew it was contrary to God but I wanted to keep doing the deeds of darkness. I suspect your story is not any different. Perhaps you are still in darkness, if that is the case you can be in the light in ten seconds, simply confess Jesus as your Lord and ask Him to help make your life pleasing to Him. When our lives are pleasing to Him they will be wonderfully pleasing to us. As we move into verse twenty, the number (20) of redemption. Coming to the light is our redemption. God is light; therefore, Jesus is light, and in repentance we are light just as He is light. When Jesus was in the world He was the light of the world but not after His ascension we are the light(s) of the world. Now, let’s move to verse twenty-one.
John 3:21 (KJV)
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
The moment that we decide to enter the light, make Jesus the Lord of our lives, we start doing the truth and become an expression, a representation of our Father and our Lord. I recently taught about the four aspects of Truth which are Jesus, the Word, Holy Spirit, and Love. I suggest you go into the archives and find those teachings to review this very important topic. Generally speaking the Truth is speaking and doing the Word of God led of Holy Spirit. This is a process of thinking like Jesus, talking like Jesus, and doing like Jesus. We are to be walking epistles and read of all men. Our lives are to be a demonstration project for others to emulate. The reason that we push further and further into the Truth is so that we become an expression of Him in the earth. When we are doing the things Jesus did and the greater things we can confidently say as Jesus did in the following verse.
John 14:9 (KJV)
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
John 14:12 (KJV)
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Just as the deeds that Jesus performed in the earth were by the Power of God not His own so it is with us. When they see us moving in the Power of God people will be attracted to us and can then hear the gospel. Otherwise we may just be a sounding brass and a tingling symbol (1 Cor 13:1) for we walk not in love. A powerless life is a loveless life.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
