MORE ABOUT JOHN THE BAPTIST
Tuesday – September 4, 2018, Elul 24, 5778

Greetings and welcome back to this wonderful Bible Study taken from the wonderful Book of John. As you will recall we are spending a little time with John the Baptist and some useful nuggets concerning this man. John the Baptist named as such as he brought the baptism of repentance. Think on this this. When we are baptized into Christ Jesus at salvation it comes by way of our true repentance of the heart. This baptism of John was a prophetic act demonstrating the wonderful redemption that was in the earth and soon would take away the sin of the world. Perhaps we should go ahead and read our primary Bible text aloud and then continue this wonderful discussion.
John 1:6-11 (KJV)
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
As we continue our study we find that John the Baptist was one of those rare folks Baptized in the Holy Spirit out of time. This was by the will of God for a very specific call upon John in the earth. This would be similar to the Anointing that Moses was able to place upon the workmen for the Tabernacle for example. This did not remove John’s freewill, he could have chosen to not follow the will and call of God. Of course, none of us have ever heard of such a thing (sarcasm). John was sent, commissioned, Anointed, to bear witness of the Light (Christ Jesus).
Luke 1:13 (KJV)
13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
Luke 1:15 (KJV)
15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.
Next, we find that John’s mother Elisabeth is filled with the Holy Spirit.
Luke 1:41 (KJV)
41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
Next, we find that John’s father Zacharias is filled with the Holy Spirit.
Luke 1:67 (KJV)
67 And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,
Following this verse Zacharias gives a wonderful Prophecy concerning his son John and Christ Jesus the Messiah. The following verses are just a taste, it would be well worth your while to read the remainder of this first chapter of Luke.
Luke 1:68-70 (KJV)
68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,
69 And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;
70 As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:
Now, let’s return to our primary text and verse seven (spiritual perfection) where we review once again that John is the man sent of God to bear witness of the Light. The Light is Christ Jesus. From the moment of sin in the Garden of Eden mankind was immediately plunged into absolute spiritual darkness. God found a way to preserve mankind until the One who redeems, the only One who could redeem mankind could come. This took four thousand years not because God willed it that way but it had to be accomplished in a legal way. Man was given dominion over the earth and when he bowed his knee to the Serpent he began to use that authority at the command of the Serpent. God was no longer the Father but man choose to be adopted into the family of darkness with Satan as his father. As freewill persons God had to find a man (person) who would knowingly and willingly choose Him and make a Blood Covenant providing the legal bridge for Messiah to come. Lord willing, I will pick up with this wonderful study tomorrow.

14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
