THE LIGHT
Wednesday – September 5, 2018, Elul 25, 5778

Isn’t this Book of John just something wonderful!? God is so good to His people giving them His Word to make all things clear and by faith all things good concerning ourselves. That is not to say that storms will not present themselves but we choose if we will participate or not. Be like Jesus and walk through the storm unhindered not like the disciples who were hindered and Peter who got his eyes on the storm and started sinking. Sinking and crying out to Jesus for rescue is not the will of God and is a clear signal of little to no faith. Let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text reading it aloud and then I will plunge further in this wonderfully marvelous Word of God.
John 1:6-11 (KJV)
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
John the Baptist came to bear witness of the Christ, to bear witness of the true Light that came to shine brightly into the darkness. This true Light was to give light and to cause each man (person) to be light just as Jesus was light.
John 9:5 (KJV)
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
Matthew 5:14 (KJV)
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Many of you hear me say over and over that Jesus commanded us to do the things that he did and even greater things. This is a vital part of our mission in the earth, witness to the world. Jesus it the Word of God, the Word of God brings light into darkness. Our text makes it clear that John came as a witness of the Light that all might believe on the Light. This is our mission in the earth as well.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21 (KJV)
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Our light (our very lives) is to show the way of salvation, to bring people to repentance, to reconciliation with God. John the Baptist did this during his ministry before Christ Jesus entered His earthly ministry at the River Jordan. At the very moment that John baptized Jesus in the River Jordan his ministry ended and the ministry of Jesus began which is now delivered unto us. As we draw to a close this Wednesday let’s review a few Scriptures about the light.
Psalm 119:105 (KJV)
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:130 (KJV)
130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
2 Peter 1:19 (KJV)
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
The Light of God is the Word of God which is Christ Jesus. Before I close I want to point out something that is really quite interesting which is that all of Scripture is prophetic. Also, consider that all promises are prophetic since all Scripture is prophetic. The Word of God spells out our end for all things, all decisions, and it never fails. The Word of God is a double-edged sword. Generally, a certain percent of Scripture is said to be prophecy but as one example of what I am talking about consider the following.
John 3:18 (KJV)
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Romans 10:9 (KJV)
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
The John prophecy is that if we believe we are not condemned and if we don’t believe on Christ Jesus we are condemned already. That prophecy comes to pass without exception for every person. Think of the Romans Scripture in the same way. Just a little aside I thought you might enjoy.

Ephesians 3:14-17 (KJV)
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
