NEW OR OLD?

Greetings my precious friends and partners of this Ministry and The Three Minute Word blog. A major focus of this ministry is to encourage and lift up all, unveil the Word (revelation) so we can come higher in Him looking more and more like Him, and to give prophetic insights into the will of God now and in coming days. God is so very good my friends. Now, let’s turn our attention to our Bible Study of the book of John by first reading out primary text aloud.
John 13:31-35 (KJV)
31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
32 If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.
33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
I am going to skip over verse thirty-three today and go to verse thirty-four, which seems to be the leading of the Holy Spirit. We will however, return to verse thirty-three which is connected to verse thirty-six. Now, I will deal with verses thirty-four and thirty-five. The word “love” in both verses is the highest level of love translated from the Greek as agapē or agapaō. By way of review this type of love is selfless (focused on God and others), it is adherent to or observant of Blood Covenant, and it is obedient to Scripture making the leadership of the Holy Spirit and Scripture as the blueprint for life (all of life). In our text Jesus says that His command for us to love one another is a new command. In another place the Pharisees and a lawyer ask Jesus the following question.
Matthew 22:36-40 (KJV)
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
We see in His answer that the commandment to love God and to love each other was already present and in fact all of the law and prophets depended upon this commandment. In the preceding Matthew reference Jesus is quoting from the following two Old Testament references.
Deuteronomy 6:4-6 (KJV)
4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
Leviticus 19:18 (ESV)
18 You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.
Clearly there has been a command in place for a long time before Jesus says He is giving us a new command. I will not answer this fully as I see it today, but from the following passages written later by the disciple whom Jesus loved (John) we see a connection to doing the commandments of Jesus. Jesus is the Word so all of the commandments are from the Father and spoken by Jesus.
1 John 2:3-8 (KJV)
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
2 John 1:5-6 (KJV)
5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, God is good and He is nothing but good.

24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
