PASSOVER IS AT HAND

Greetings precious children of God, our brothers and sisters, and welcome back to The Three Minute Word. Ordinarily I would be teaching on the Book of Isaiah Monday through Thursday but today will be a brief discussion of the significance of this day on the Hebrew Calendar, Nisan 10, and Passover week, Passover itself is Friday, the 14th of Nisan. Friday will be about Passover skipping this week’s discussion of “Gifts”. Passover is all about the Sacrifice, Easter more properly called Resurrection Sunday is all about the Resurrection of Jesus the Christ. Before I move forward with this brief study, please share this teaching as widely as possible expanding the reach of the good news (gospel), the Truth. Yes, the Feasts of the Lord are indeed a part of the gospel, a part of the teaching of the Kingdom of God. The featured picture today is a free download from the internet depicting Jesus Triumphant entry into Jerusalem on the 10th of Nisan. Let’s start by looking at the first recorded Passover. This is at the time of the tenth plague which brought Pharoah and Egypt to their knees bringing about the release of the Hebrews and those who wanted to go with them (Scripture calls it a mixed multitude).
Exodus 12:1-7 (KJV)
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
Do you see Jesus here, the Lamb of God, the One who took away the sin of the world? Jesus was without sin (blemish), and He was the first-born male. This lamb was selected on the 10th of Nisan and watched until the 14th, the day of sacrifice, to be sure it was without blemish. The preceding Scripture and that of Leviticus 23 are fulfilled by Jesus, The Lamb of God. Now, let’s see it play out in the Jesus, the Christ. This is on the 9th of Nisan.
John 12:1-3 (KJV)
1 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.
2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.
3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
This account is also recorded in Mark.
Mark 14:3 (KJV)
3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.
There is much to say about this but suffice to say, alabaster is stone and the stone (Christ) had to be broken to release the Anointing Oil, the Holy Spirit back into the earth. It was poured first on the “Head” who is Christ and then the body “the Church”. This is six days before the Passover, the Cross, six is the number of man. All of this for us dear ones. This brings us to Nisan 10.
John 12:12-15 (KJV)
12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.
14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,
15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.
As you will recall from your study of Scripture Jesus is in and out of Jerusalem being inspected of the Religious Authorities until the time for the Passover Lamb to be sacrificed. More on Friday. Tomorrow our study will be back to the 11th chapter of Isaiah.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
