PRIEST OF THE MOST HIGH GOD
Wednesday – December 6, 2017

Mom with twin fawns caught on a game camera at the deer feeder on the ranch, what a beautiful sight. God has given us many wonderful creatures to enjoy. Now I will return to our wonderful Bible Study in the Book of Hebrews, so let’s review our primary text.
Hebrews 7:1-3 (KJV)
1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
This King of Salem, Melchisedec, is such a wonderful picture of the sacrifice to come, the One who would restore the Kingdom of God with all fullness of righteousness, peace, and joy. This man Melchisedec is also a wonderful picture of us. We would have no claim to righteousness, peace, or joy were it not for the love of God. With the restoration of this marvelous Kingdom we are made (just as Jesus was made) kings and priests to the Most High God.
Revelation 1:6 (KJV)
6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
It is very clear from the preceding text that from the very moment of salvation we are “kings and priests unto God and his Father”. The One referred to as “God” in the preceding verse is Jesus. We saw the restoration of Jesus as God in the very first chapter of Hebrews. Jesus was God before the womb of Mary and after the Resurrection.
John 1:1 (KJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Hebrews 1:8-9 (KJV)
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
I think that anyone who has been in the Scripture very long sees the interweaving of the three persons of the Holy Trinity making it difficult to distinguish one from the other. God is one and He is three and perhaps we cannot totally wrap our minds around this but we accept it and have faith in that reality. Okay, back to who we are in Christ Jesus. We are kings and priests unto our God. Do you know any poor kings? Unfortunately, the Church is full of them for we do not know who we are, what Christ has done for us. We are, I think, very much aware that things do not just drop on us in the Kingdom of God, they are acquired by faith in love led of the Spirit of God. God does not respond to need but to faith. We may indeed be a needy people and we shall remain in need absent faith. The absence of faith is unbelief or faith in something contrary to the Word of God. For example, in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve had more faith in the words of the Serpent than the Words of God. What about you and me?
Kings are not beggars but rulers, they decree a thing and it is established. That authority (dominion) was given to mankind in the Garden, given to the Serpent on the Day of Sin but restored by Christ Jesus. The Power to back up the authority (Blessing) was given in the Garden, forfeited on the Day of Sin, but restored to mankind by Christ Jesus. When I say restored to mankind I am saying it is available to all but present only with those who receive Jesus as Lord and Savior and are filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Am I, are you decreeing things and thanking God for the performance or are you and I begging God for His promises?
Scripture tells us that Jesus was made a High Priest forever after the order of Melchisedec to intercede for us before the Father. A priest is one that ministers before God on behalf of another. This is commonly called intercession. We are also a priest in matters between other people and God and as led of the Spirit we are to intercede for others before the Lord. This is an avenue of mercy. Our intercession legally gives God the ability for a season to extend not only time but mercy into a person’s life who does not deserve it, it is extended by virtue of our standing with God. We are priests for our families, our friends, our communities, our State, and our nation. Let us not be bashful in this ministry for we may introduce the first Blood line into a historically heathen family. Perhaps no one else is praying for a person or family the Lord has allowed or brought into our life. It is not the will of God that any should perish. Let us step into the wonderful assignment of God, we also are kings of righteousness, kings of peace, and we are priests to our Lord and God. As we do these things with a whole heart the goodness (glory) of God is shown and the heathen will clamor for the Kingdom of God.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (GW)
24 The LORD will bless you and watch over you.
25 The LORD will smile on you and be kind to you.
26 The LORD will look on you with favor and give you peace.’
