SEEK HONOR FROM GOD ONLY
Thursday – December 20, 2018, Tevet 12, 5779

Greetings most precious brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and welcome back to this illuminating Bible Study of the Book of John. The featured picture today is of the Eastern Gate in Jerusalem also known as the Gate for the Prince which is Christ Jesus. When Jesus physically returns to earth stepping foot on the Mount of Olives, walks across the Kidron Valley, He will pass through the Eastern Gate, and enter into the Third Temple. If you are receiving these teachings on Facebook please hit the “like” and “share” buttons. Now, let’s get to our study but first we must read our primary Bible text aloud.
John 5:43-47 (KJV)
43 I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
I finished yesterday speaking about the name, operating in the authority of the name, and Power being activated by the name, the name in this case being Jesus. In our text Jesus is talking about being kept in the Father’s name and how He had kept the disciples in that name as well. I made the point that although we are clothed in the name of Jesus, we are also in the name of the Father for Jesus is in the Father and the Father in Jesus. The following is some of the most amazing Scripture.
John 17:20-23 (KJV)
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
Here is Jesus just a few hours before the Cross, His disciples perhaps a hundred feet away sleeping, and He is praying not just for them but each and every one of us who believe on Him. He is praying that we be one with the Father and the Son. We can be saved and on the way to Heaven but not one with the Father and the Son for we are not walking in the peace of God which is our peace and we are going our own way in some area. Scripture asks the question; can two walk together except they agree? (Amos 3:3). It is like in a marriage where the two live together and are one in most areas but have one or more where they are going their own way. This keeps both the husband and the wife out of the full blessings of the marriage just as our failing to align with the Father and the Son will keep us out of the fulness of the blessings of that relationship as well. Now, back to our primary text picking up in verse forty-four. Jesus is basically telling them they are so busy patting each other on the back and giving each other titles and so on that they are missing the boat with the One who really counts. Perhaps we can see this in a little better focus from the Amplified Translation and The Living Bible Translation of Scripture.
John 5:44 (AMP)
44 How is it possible for you to believe [how can you learn to believe], you who [are content to seek and] receive praise and honor and glory from one another, and yet do not seek the praise and honor and glory which come from Him Who alone is God?
John 5:44 (TLB)
44 No wonder you can’t believe! For you gladly honor each other, but you don’t care about the honor that comes from the only God!
The word “believe” in our text is from the root word for “faith”. You are so busy congratulating each other that you are not taking time to understand and build faith in the Scripture, therefore you have no faith. Jesus is basically telling them that the most important person, the most important event of all of history is happening right in their eyes, they are talking to Him, and they want to kill Him and not believe upon Him. I know we would all like to think we would have been different and that we have not been guilty of this at any time in our walk with God. Perhaps we should shine the bright light of Scripture on all areas of our lives, what we believe and why, perhaps we will find cause for repentance and a change of course.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it by faith in Jesus name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
