IGNORANT, RECKLESS, AND CORRUPT

Greetings dear saints, sons of God and all others joining. Welcome to this enlightening and inspiring study of the Seven Mountains also referred to as pillars or gates. Of the Seven Mountains, thus far we have discussed the Mountain of Religion, Media, Education, and Business. Today I will continue to focus on the “Government Mountain”. I also want to remind all of us to pray for each of the seven mountains, especially the mountains on which we are assigned and have jurisdiction, have authority.
Yesterday I discussed how the structure of government was ordained of God and that those in government were God’s ministers for justice in the earth. Of course, when wicked people elect wicked people to represent them, we find a perversion of right (Isaiah 5). Wicked people are not just those who are killing, pillaging, and raping but all who are thinking, speaking, and doing contrary to the will of God. Let’s listen once again to Minister of the Gospel and 20th President of the United States James Garfield.
When giving his centennial address to Congress in 1876, President James Garfield issued the following warning: “Now, more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature…If the next centennial does not find us a great nation…it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.”
Now 150 years later we find that much of our government is “ignorant, reckless, and corrupt”. For the moment we have a President who is a strong leader and is making bold moves to bring increased security to this nation and defend and return the nation to its Judeo-Christian roots. Any other foundation will quickly crumble, and this once great Christian nation lost. Let’s review the following Scripture and see if this is not where we have come over the last 50 plus years.
Isaiah 5:20-23 (KJV)
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
Now let’s look at the exhortation of the Apostle Paul to his spiritual son Timothy and to us all concerning those in authority.
1 Timothy 2:1-4 (KJV)
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Notice Paul is exhorting that we pray various types of prayers for all people then he focuses in on those of authority. The purpose of our prayers is to bring about a quiet and peaceable life not just for us but all and it makes living godly and honestly easier. He goes on to say this is pleasing to the Lord. Then he adds that our prayers for the unsaved be for salvation and for the unsaved and saved alike that they “come unto the knowledge of the truth”. Someone no doubt prayed for us so let us pray for others especially those in authority over us both spiritual and secular.
TAKE HOME:
- Let’s ask ourselves, is our government intelligent, brave, and pure or ignorant, reckless, and corrupt?
- We, the Church, have allowed by various means the righteous foundation of this nation to be corrupted by evil.
- We are to pray “for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty”
As the Lord wills, I will return tomorrow with fresh revelation. The Lord bless and keep you and yours. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
