EMOTIONS A QUICK TRIP TO THE DITCH

Greetings dear saints of God and others and welcome to today’s teaching on one shortcut to the ditch. There are many, this is one, a really big one. What I am speaking of today is our emotions. Yes, they are God given and can be wonderful or bring destruction into our lives. We don’t want the situation this young lady is experiencing either physically or spiritually. There are many primary emotions with subtypes. As we think of these six emotions let’s see they can be positive or negative, let me briefly explain. Happiness, are we happy for another or our own good fortune or that someone got their comeuppance? Are we sad for a brief season (30 days or less) or is it a lifestyle. Do you operate in fear which is sin due to circumstances we have allowed or are threatened? What about disgust? Are we disgusted with people or the sin of people and the evil influences behind the behavior? What about anger? Is it your go to emotion? Are you angry about sin and the evil behind sin or with people? Finally, what about surprise? This can occur with many circumstances which most likely leads to another emotion of set of emotions like fear, anger, disgust, etc.
Sometimes people, if not on guard and knowledgeable of the wiles of the demons will be entrapped by their emotions. Especially if it is a life altering event. They may say they feel broken, and they will be broken from here on out. These are things like a death, a divorce, but can be many other circumstances. The demons will energize our initial emotion or emotions in a negative way, taking the person captive now at his will if we yield. The idea that I am broken and my life is forever ruined is a lie of the enemy and must be cast down. To repeat that is to speak a lie, parroting the lie of Satan’s cohorts. His cohorts include people that are influenced by and follow the ways of their father, Satan. What does Scripture say about you, that is the Truth, and it is how we answer the lies of Satan not by repeating the lies of Satan. Where your focus, thoughts, words, and actions are will be the direction of your life.
1 John 4:17 (NKJV)
17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
As He is (right now) so are we (right now) in this world. Is Jesus broken or unrighteous (not in right standing with the Father)? Of course not, and neither are you! What about this?
Acts 17:28 (NKJV)
28 for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’
We are in Him, in Him (Christ Jesus) there is no brokenness, outside of Him operating as the world there is nothing but brokenness. What about this?
Colossians 2:9-10 (NKJV)
9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;
10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
God the Holy Spirit lives in us and in Christ Jesus we are complete, NOT broken! See yourself in Him confessing you are in Him and as He is, so are you!
There is much more to say so I will pick this up next Friday and bring it to a conclusion. There is no brokenness or at least that can last if we stay in Him and not in darkness.
TAKE HOME:
- Our God given emotions can be of great value and healthy, but they have a negative perverted side as well which we must control. Yes, we can control our emotions.
- As He is now and us with Him at the right hand of the Father so are we in this world. He is not broken, and neither should we be broken.
- We live and move and have our being in Him (Acts 17:28) and we are complete in Him (Colossians 2:10), not in the world, in Him.
As the Lord wills I will continue this teaching next Friday and the following Friday a new teaching titled “PLAYGROUND, SOCIAL, TEACHING, WORD”. After that I believe we will pick up with 3rd John. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
