THE BLOOD OF BULLS AND GOATS – PART SIX
Monday – February 12, 2018

Welcome back to this wonderful and ongoing study from the Book of Hebrews. The purpose of any Bible Study is to learn and then to build faith in what was learned. I have been talking for quite some time about the Covenants, the first and the much better second Blood Covenant. The New Covenant (Testament) enfolds all of the old blood Covenant into it with the exception of the sacrificial laws. The sacrificial laws were done away with at Calvary once and for all. The Old Testament is loaded with information and instruction concerning our obligations and benefits to make it operational in our lives. Of course, first and foremost is that we be true worshippers of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The New Testament sealed with the Blood of Christ Jesus just adds to what was already a marvelous covenant. As we look at our primary text below we are currently reviewing the Feasts of the Lord which are a part of the law and are a part of the shadow of good things to come. So, let us read this text aloud so this Word is in our eyes and in our ears as we commit to be diligent and keep it in our hearts.
Hebrews 10:1-4 (KJV)
1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Concerning the Feasts of the Lord remember they are an appointed assembly of the congregation at a specific place, at a specific time, for a specific purpose. These Feasts were commanded of the Lord. These Feasts are to be observed forever. Since Calvary all sacrifice with the spilling of innocent blood is abolished. The transliterated word from Hebrew to English for feast is môʿēd according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. There are seven appointed feasts of the Lord and we have covered five thus far. These feasts were initiated by God to commemorate an event like Passover as well as a Prophetic Word for them and for us. As the Church looks at these Feasts and commemorated events we see a prophetic picture of the better things to come and in some cases events that fulfilled the Prophetic Word of a Feast. The Apostle Peter tells us that it is one thing to be at an event and to be a first-hand witness but it is an even more sure witness to see the Prophetic Word fulfilled.
2 Peter 1:16-19 (KJV)
16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
The Apostle Peter was there when the water became fine wine, when Lazarus walked out of the grave, when the wind and the sea obeyed Him, when the five-thousand were fed from a sack lunch, when multitudes were healed, and was a witness to the Resurrected Christ Jesus seeing Him ascend into Heaven. After all of this Peter tells us that seeing the Prophetic Word performed is a more sure witness than a first-hand witness account. There are four spring of the year feasts and these are Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, and Pentecost. All four of the spring feasts were fulfilled in the first coming of Christ. You can go into the archives and review any of these as you desire. There are three fall feasts that are a Prophetic Word of things to come. The fulfillment of these three fall Feasts is associated with the Second Coming of Christ. When I say associated with the “Second Coming” I am talking about the Catching Away commonly called the Rapture of the Church, the Second Coming itself when Jesus touches down on the Mount of Olives, and the Millennial Reign. Last Friday I ended with the first of the fall feasts known as Rosh HaShanah or Feast of Trumpets. This Feast does not commemorate any event in old Israel and it is prophetic of the coming Catching Away of the Church. I will speak of a possible originating event in a moment. Let’s take a look at the command of the Lord and then tomorrow I will move forward to the feast called The Day of Atonement.
Leviticus 23:23-25 (KJV)
23 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
25 Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
Seven is the number of spiritual completion. It is said that man has a six-day lease upon the earth with a day being a thousand years or six thousand years. The first day of the of the seventh month indicates that at the very beginning of the seventh day, the day of rest, we, the Church will hear the Trump of God and will be caught up to Heaven. We first see what became the trumpet of Israel in the account of Abraham and Isaac on Mount Moriah (Genesis 22) when God asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son whom he loved. When Abraham and Isaac passed that test our salvation was assured. You will recall that as Abraham has the knife raised over Isaac to slay him when an angel of the Lord stopped him and brought his attention to a ram whose horn was caught in a thicket.
Genesis 22:11-13 (KJV)
11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
Because Abraham was in Blood Covenant with God he would not withhold his son Isaac from the Lord. When that was done the Lord was obligated to offer His Son on behalf of mankind. That horn is called a Shofar, a trumpet, and it is blown throughout Israel on the Feast of Trumpets. Rejoice the Trump is coming to the lips of the Archangel, the Lord is near!
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
