THE COMFORTER – THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH
Monday – June 8, 2020, Sivan 16, 5780

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog where we are exploring the wonderful Book of John. Thought you might enjoy todays and tomorrows picture taken by a game camera on the back patio of our birdseed bandit. As you can see, he/she is on the squirrel guard and bending the pole and bird feeder over, more tomorrow. Please take a moment to share these teachings each day to expand the reach of this Ministry. God is so very good dear ones. Wow, this year is speeding by, just a few more days and it is half gone. Have we redeemed the time? What have we learned over the last three months during this Pandemic? How have we used the time? What has been our focus? Has it been business as usual? Has it been a time to complain and rail against things, people, and the government? Have we used this challenge and time to perfect our patience, purge the extraneous, and seek the Lord? What has been our personal response and that of the corporate Church to this pestilence? Is the leadership of the flesh in evidence or that of the Spirit? What are our plans to be ready for the next wave? Now, let’s turn our focus to our primary Bible text and read it out loud, aloud, yes, out loud.
John 16:8-12 (KJV)
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
Jesus is in the final few hours of His earthly Ministry, the Cross looms just ahead and He is preparing His disciples. He is imparting Truths for the moment and for eternity. Jesus is about to leave the earth and will be sending the Comforter into the earth. The Comforter is the Holy Spirit, a different aspect or facet, function, relationship, for example compared to Grace, or Glory and so on (all names of the Holy Spirit). Jesus, the Word, is making it clear that it is to their advantage and ours that He go away and that the Comforter come. Remember the following passage which we have previously studied.
John 14:15-18 (KJV)
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
In verse fifteen we find Jesus, the Word, at least in part defining love (agape) and how to recognize love. Love in part is doing the Word, the commandments, of God. Do you suppose that the work of the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, in our lives is connected to doing the commandments? It seems intimately, inseparably connected by the word “And” starting the sixteenth verse. Could this be a clue to us when we don’t see things moving in our lives? Sixteen is the number of love. Fifteen is the number of “rest” or “provision”. The capacity to be obedient to the commands of God is a wonderful provision of God and His response is to love us with the Comforter, the manifestations of God in our lives. God does not manifest in our lives because we look cute or say we love Him. That is what the following verse is all about.
John 14:21 (KJV)
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Jesus told those disciples that they already knew the Holy Spirit for He has been with them but very soon He would be in them. At salvation, theirs and ours, the Breath of God quickens (makes alive once again) our spirit man and sweet, sweet, communion is again established with God. The Holy Spirit is every bit as much God as the Father or Jesus today. He is the third person of the Triune Co-equal God. Are we really as God inside minded as we should be? Are we really as God conscious as we should be? I suspect the answer to both is a resounding NO! It seems to me that we seem to think we are somehow separate from God and that He doesn’t see everything.
Hebrews 4:13 (KJV)
13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
Do we really believe this? What kind of life should we be living with this in mind? What manner of persons ought we to be?
2 Peter 3:11 (KJV)
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
