THE COMFORTER
Thursday – January 23, 2020, Tevet 26, 5780
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this encouraging, instructive, and course correcting Bible Study of the Book of John. We choose, not God, to succeed or fail, what will we choose? If you don’t believe that you have not been following these teachings or studying the Bible. I realize you may think that is a little rough but let me tell you that I have had it with defeat in my own life and in the lives of those dear people around me. The body of Christ needs to step to the plate and actually do what the Bible says! Now let’s turn our attention to our study by first reading aloud the primary Bible text.
John 14:25-28 (KJV)
25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.
As we dive into our study for today let’s remind ourselves of the context, the milieu, in which these verses occur. It has all to do, like a whole lot of the rest of the Bible, with actually getting and doing the commandments or Word of God. Dear brother and sister, you want to know the overarching will of God for you, it is to get the Word of God, keep (treasure) the Word of God, and to actually do it, period. In addition, Jesus told them and us that He was not leaving them “comfortless” but was sending “another Comforter” the “Spirit of truth”. The transliterated Greek word for Comforter is paraklētos per Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary and is defined as one called in to aid, intercede for, or defend, especially in a legal process; a favorable witness, a friend, or an advocate; an intercessor, helper, consoler, or comforter; specifically [capitalized], the Holy Ghost; the Comforter. Wow, what a helper, the third person of the Triune co-equal God. Who showed up fifty days after the Resurrection on the Feast of Pentecost? The Comforter! Available to all who are in Christ Jesus to do all the will of God. Nothing is impossible WITH God, let’s stay with Him and wander off on our own where we are wolf (devil) bait. The Comforter also woos the lost to Christ. He is the Power of God and He is given to us! Let me point out that this is not new, Adam had a helper as well.
Genesis 1:26-28 (KJV)
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Notice man was given dominion (absolute, not shared with God, nor subject to God) over all the earth including the atmospheric envelope about the earth. This authority or dominion was absolute, the Triune God divested Themselves of all authority in the earth. With God as their Father in accordance with His will they triggered supernatural responses to accomplish what is impossible in the natural. With Satan as their father they still had authority but could not trigger the supernatural power of God (the Blessing – now the Comforter). So, in the beginning God gave man the Blessing, and the Blessing is the same person as the Comforter. He is the Power of God and was present to see that any authority (dominion) exercised according to the will of God was accomplished. Lord willing, I will pick up right here on Monday.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
